Emerald
took one last look out of the carriage window as it set of from her
castle in the mountains.
Thinking about going to Hogwarts she
sighed it's not like she didn't want to go in fact she was quite
excited about it. She was just scared; emerald had never really
socialised with people her age before and was wondering if they would
like her. The thought crossed her mind of sitting in a corner all
alone and she shuddered.
"Everything alright milady"
Flitty her house elf looked concerned
"Would you like me to get
your warmer cloak out of your bag?"
"No, no I'm ok honestly
I was just thinking"
She gave a smile of reassurance to
Flitty. They had a different relationship than most people had with
their house elves. Flitty had been there since the day Emerald was
born, they'd become close some would say they were more like
friends than master and servant.
Emerald was probably one of the
most important people in the wizarding world even so she doubted most
of the students would have heard of her. The Queen of the majestic,
she thought that all the lessons she'd had on how to become a good
queen couldn't help her now.
Thinking about Hogwarts emerald
must have dropped off, the next thing she knew she was being gently
shook awake.
"We're nearly there milady I think its best you wake up a bit before we get there"
As emerald looked out
of the window again her green eyes glinted in the moonlight. In the
distance she could see a dark shape emerging through the forest on
top of a mountain.
"This must be it" she said to Flitty
without taking her eyes off it. She was glad she wouldn't be alone
in this.
The carriage pulled up outside the mighty castle and she was helped out by her driver.
"Hmmm impressive, it's nearly as big as mine. I wasn't expecting it to be like this"
A calm but powerful voice just to the left of her spoke
"Yes
it is impressive, my pride and joy. Oh I'm sorry did I startle you?
"
"Erm a little, yes actually"
"Please forgive me, I am
Albus Dumbledore your new headmaster
-please let me show you
inside. Professor McGonagall will be waiting inside to show you to
your quarters".
The castle was completely empty apart from her, Flitty and the professors. It was an almost eerie silence as she was led up the stone staircase by professor McGonagall. To emerald everywhere looked the same and she soon lost track of where she was going. She wondered how she was going to find her way around in this maze. This might not look as big as hers from the outside but it was definitely more complicated.
As if reading her mind McGonagall spoke
"There will be a
student along to assist you before the sorting and the feast tomorrow
we have arranged for a few students to come early, one of them will
be assigned to you"
"But professor im not being sorted my
advisers said it would be inappropriate for some on of my stature
to…."
"Well we thought even if you do not take part you may
want to witness the sorting and you would not want to miss the feast
would you?"
"No professor, I would not"
In actual
fact all she wanted to do was lock herself in her room and hide, how
was she going to cope with all the students, where would she sit? She
wasn't to be sorted so how was she supposed to know which house
table to sit at?
At that moment Professor McGonagall stopped in
her tracks
"Here we are"
"But professor it's a dead
end"
"Fairy dust"
With that the bricks parted and behind then were huge wooden double doors
"I'm sure you will be comfortable here, your luggage will be along shortly"
Fairy
dust? Emerald thought, how dumb is that she could have given me a
better password.
Her room was much better than expected and
without a word to Flitty she dropped down on her bed and fell soundly
asleep.
Flitty sighed, Emerald knew she disapproved when she slept
without changing.
