His Eyes

Disclaimer: nope not I

The rain pounded against the windows as the clock above the mantle chimed one. She poured herself another mug of tea and settled into the small loveseat. The fire danced before her and it looked as though it was trying to escape the marble that held it in.

The door to the flat opened with little protest. She set her tea down and went around the back of the loveseat to the small tiled area that served as an entryway. A man wearing a black travelers cloak and looking as if he'd just climbed out of a swimming pool stood there. He pulled off his cloak and she dried it using her wand. He then stripped off his trainers and once again she dried them. He then was able to dry himself off with the same spell she'd previously used.

Finally, he pulled her into a loving embrace. Tears of joy fell from her emerald eyes as he ran a hand over her back. It was like this every time he got home from work. She'd wait until he was once again home. Then, she'd help dry him off, or heal his various injuries. Lastly, they fell into an embrace.

Each morning before he left, she'd give him three kisses. One to represent their bond of spirit. The next to represent their unity of mind. The third to remind him that she loved him. Once he was gone, she'd busy herself getting ready for work. Silently, she'd pray for his safe return. So far God hadn't let her down. But how much longer would this good fortune last?

The war had been raging on for what felt like an eternity. Each day more in the fight against You-Know-Who were taken. Each day, she was scared Mad-eye would knock on her door and tell her the worst. Either that or he simply wouldn't come home.

Yet she knew he worried for her. She was alone from six in the morning to whatever time he got home. He would beg her not to leave the house past eight at night by herself, unless she absolutely had to. He swore to be there the moment she even thought danger was possible. When he was home, she wasn't let out of his sight. Because she was his and he was hers. They both knew life would fall away if either one of them was left alive without the other

She looked into his hazel eyes. Those were the eyes she'd say 'I do' to one day. The eyes that would watch over their unborn children. The eyes that she knew and adored.

"James, I love you."

"I love you too Lily."

A/N: I know it's short, but it was an interesting peice to write. Not to mention it won't take anyone long to read and review :)
