"Wishes…" Sonic said. "what were they for? What were they for when they were needed?"
"Maybe they were for something we couldn't see." Sally said as she and sonic walked down a dirt road. They had been walking down the road for a long time, not really aware they were lost. Sonic sat down on the side of the road and sighed heavily.
"Why is this happening to us?" Sonic asks. "All I wished for was the chance to spend time with you. I never wanted us to get lost like this."
"Maybe you should've made a more specific wish." Sally replied, a hint of anger in her voice. "Honestly Sonic! You had one job...just stop Mephiles from attacking and wish for things to return to normal."
"I'm sorry!" Sonic shouted. "I couldn't help it! I'm in love with you! Is that a bad thing? I...I just wish that I could've wished better. Maybe you wouldn't be so upset."
"I'm sorry, Sonic." Sally said. "Maybe I shouldn't have been so harsh about you. I guess I shouldn't have snapped at you. You were only trying to help."
Sonic spotted a fork in the road and a man's voice is heard behind them. He was dressed in a silver and black cloak and his hood covered his face. He spoke in a low and raspy tone, signifying he was elderly.
"The darkness is overlapping the light and before you lies two paths." The man said. "One is the path that leads to darkness. The other leads to the light. One path is embracing the darkness and the other embraces the light."
Sonic and Sally look to each other and notice a third path behind them.
"What does that path lead to?" Sally asked. "Where does that lead to?"
"It leads to an unknown compromise between light and darkness. Dawn." The man replied. "If you go down that path, you may not find what you are looking for. Are you sure you wish to go that way?"
"I'm sure." Sonic and Sally said in unison.
"Very well." The man said as he moved out of the way, "You must know, there are two people just like you taking the same path. They've made the same choice as you. Find them and they shall be as much your guide as you will be to them.
"Okay." Sonic said as the hooded man disappeared. "Well Sally? Shall we get going?"
Sally took Sonic's hand and the two walked down the path together, not knowing what they will see or what they will face one the way home.
