Wheatley rolled along his management rail. He had no particular place to be at the moment, nor did he have any clue where he was going, but a little stroll around the facility would surely replace the boredom lurking inside him. He happened to cross paths with Sofia, and called out to her.
"'Ello!". Sofia returned the call.
"Hello, Mr. Wheatley. What are you doing?" she asked. Wheatley backtracked to meet her.
"Oh, just having a look around is all. Would you care to join me?" He offered. Sofia shook her head, motioning towards the bounty of files in her hands.
"Not today. She wants me to organize these folders for her." She replied. "And I have a feeling it's going to take a long time." Wheatley lowered his upper handlebar somewhat dejectedly. He had secretly been hoping the AI would have come along. However, it was best that he left her to her work, as he did not wish to anger the likes of GLaDOS.
"Oh, I see… Well, I'd best be off. Bye love!" He said, resuming his 'walk'. Sofia turned to go as well.
"Goodbye, daddy!" Sofia chirped. Silence. The two had been consumed in it for an impressive twenty seconds. The core turned around ever so slowly, his iris reduced to a pin prick. The seafoam eyed bot had her hands clamped over her mouth, paperwork strewn across the floor.
"…Excuse me?" Wheatley finally asked, breaking the painful silence. His companion removed the hand from her mouth and hesitated to respond. Within seconds she was on the floor, picking up what she'd dropped.
"I'm dreadfully sorry, Mr. Wheatley. I don't know why that slipped out! Perhaps my databank needs repairs… Anyway, what I meant to say was 'Goodbye, Mr. Wheatley!'". The core paused for another minute, then allowed his optic to return to normal.
"Y-yes, well uh… Goodbye.". With that, he took off in the opposite direction, refusing to look back at the girl. All the while jumbled thoughts zipped around his mind. However, there was one particular thought he'd conceived that just kept coming up.
'Daddy… daddy… Why does hearing her say that sound so familiar?'
