Rainbow Reflections
He's not sure if it's the effects of age on his host or the atrophy of long-unused angelic powers, but Castiel wasn't quite fast enough to catch the mirror he'd been lifting into position when it slipped from his grasp.
He gazed down from the modest height of the stepladder-"I knew I should have got Sam to help me"-to see a thousand shattered shards like glittering stars in the night's sky, each constellation holding a rainbow of different reflections twinkling back at him. It conjured the image in his mind of the spectrum of all the people that he'd been: loyal soldier, rebel, self-justifying traitor, husband, madman, would-be god bloated with the poison of the Leviathan, Heaven's puppet turned revolutionary, proxy-father, and now?
"Uh-oh, looks like someone's just earned themselves seven years bad luck," panted Dean from the doorway, obviously having run at the sound of breaking glass.
"So how do you account for the last thirty?" asked Castiel, with a raised eyebrow while accepting the offered helping hand to step down from his perch.
"Winchester luck," beamed Dean, without hesitation.
Castiel patted the hand he still held. "Then let's go break a few more together," he grinned.
