This will be a multi chapter fanfiction and I will update whenever possible. For the sake of this story Kate is 16 and Rick is 19. It is obviously very AU, but set in the 2010's. Characters are not mine but the mistakes are. Chapters will be short, but I will not be ditching this story. R&R
She lifted her eyes from the novel she was reading, her forefinger in between some pages, so she could reopen it on the correct page. She stretched her neck hearing loud cracks. She had been sitting in the same position for about three hours.
She looked at her surroundings. Numerous people scattered throughout the practically silent library. The sounds heard were only small little things like breathing, page turning, shuffling footsteps, the occasional sinffle or cough, and tapping of key boards.
There weren't even whispers, which was strange for a Saturday afternoon in the New York Public Library. She looked at the man with his laptop on one of the tables in front of him, he was tapping away like lightning. He had on a blue dress shirt, Beats headphones and his eyes were a beautiful cobalt blue.
There was a woman who looked to be about the same age as her. Blonde hair, green eyes the colour of the moss you find on rocks, and wore glasses while playing on her iPhone. She sat directly across from Kate.
Kate clenched her eyes shut before opening them again, and diving right back into her book.
He tapped her shoulder whispering "Hey."
She looked up to him, her eyes met the same cobolt blue she was admiring earlier. "Hi?"
"They're about to close up. Sorry for interrupting, but I thought I'd let you know." He smiled at her, eyes crinkling as he did so.
"Ah, thanks." She closed the book she had literally just finished, and stood from her chair.
"You've been here all day, surely that book must have been worth it. What's it called?"
"In a Hail Of Bullets, by Richard Castle. It's really good," she nodded. "I'm Kate."
"Rick," he replied.
She gave him a smile, he gave her a nod goodbye and left with his laptop and headphones in his backpack.
