Author's note: I'll try to keep this short and simple. If you're looking for smut, you won't find it here. Keep moving to the next fanfic in it. If they didn't hook up in the game, they're not hooking up in my story. Sephiroth? After spending over a decade debating and drooling, I've come to the conclusion that Sephiroth is just not a sexual person- even if he tried to be. One visit to the Honeybee Inn and he probably shook his head saying 'never again'. I do play with a few theories as to why, but if you're expecting Seph-smut, keep moving.
I use the timeline supplied by the folks at the Final Fantasy 7 Citadel. (Big props to them). While there are contradictions and overlaps due to the Compilation, I try to stick to the timeline in the main game.
Square-Enix owns everything except for Arialei Minalia. But I'll make it seem like Arialei blends right in, as though Tetsuya Nomura created her himself. While many of the original creators have moved on (notably to Mistwalker), SE still holds the rights.
Here's to everyone who wondered who exactly told Sephiroth that Jenova was his mother and just how "special" he was.

What a wasteland we have created.
A city lies in ruins, families torn apart by life and death. Babies are crying, the elderly are sneezing away the memories of the past.
How close we came to nothingness, to living in a black hole.
What was my role in this? I stood by and let all of this happen. I waited patiently in the shadows of bleak nothingness while the Planet shrieked in pain.
It all started with a simple lie. A lie I repeated over and over as a promise to a mentor, a close friend.
That lie in which a hero was born, revered and feared by all over the Planet. Everywhere he went, people bowed at his feet and cowered in his glance.
That lie, which would ultimately turn the very same hero into a monster. A monster that aspired to be a god. And that monster would set off a chain of events that would ultimately put all of life at the brink of obliteration.
What was the lie?
The lie that Jenova was Sephiroth's mother.
And who told the lie?
I did. Doctor Arialei Minalia, formerly a research scientist for the ShinRa Corporation.
I am responsible for the lie.
