Hey everyone. This story was written for both the Assignment and Fortnightly Challenges Thread's Snape Appreciation Challenge. For the assignment I choose to write for Gardening: Flower Meanings Task 6 and the task was to write about secret love (whether requited or not). For the Snape Appreciation Challenge I choose to write for Shelf 4 13. Veritaserum and the task was to write about being caught in a lie. I hope you all enjoy Her.
I stood nervously on the doorstep of Lily Evans house with the other Marauders. I wasn't nervous about being at Lily's house. It wasn't like this was the first time that we'd ever been there. No. I was nervous for whole other reason. The door opened after the fifth time that James had pushed the doorbell to reveal the source of my nervousness.
"Lily," she yelled, "those boys are back again." She turned from the leaving it wide open. She didn't even invite us in but my heart still raced at seeing her all the same.
Petunia. The name of my goddess.
"What's with Wormy?" I heard Sirius whisper to James and Remus.
"I don't know," Remus replied as Lily walked down the stair.
"Tuney you could have invited them in," she called out to the other girl. "I'm sorry about her. I don't know why she's like that."
She must have told us to follow her because I found myself being pulled along by Sirius into the kitchen. I felt my face flush as I saw her again. But she wasn't alone. There was a boy in the kitchen with her. I glowered as I saw that he had her hand. I wanted to be the one to hold her hand. Why couldn't she see that?
"There's no need to be like that," James laughed slapping a hand on my back.
I felt my knees buckle with the amount of strength he had used. My cheeks heated up even more. That was exactly what she needed to see. James Potter making me fall flat on my face.
"Why don't we just leave Vernon?" I heard Petunia suggest.
I saw the guy Vernon nod and lead her out of the room. A few minutes, which to me seem an eternity, the door slammed shut. I sighed in defeat sitting down in the chair nearest me.
Lily raised an eyebrow at James and the others.
"We don't know," James answered for the group.
Lily walked over and put her hand on top of mine. "What's wrong, Peter?" she asked me.
She doesn't even know I exist, I thought miserably. "Nothing is wrong," I actually told her. "Just feeling a bit down about it being the last week of summer is all."
"Peter," came the knowing reply.
Did girls know everything? I sighed. James and Sirius would make fun of me if they knew how I felt about Petunia. I think even Remus would tease me a little bit if he knew. Maybe Lily being a girl would be more understanding.
"Can I talk to you alone?" I asked her.
She nodded leading me away from other boys telling them that we'd be right back. She lead me into the room with the box she called a television. Motioning for me to sit on the couch next to her.
"What's wrong, Peter?" she asked again.
"I like your sister," I told her.
"Petunia?"
"Yeah. And she doesn't even know I exist. Does she?"
She shook her head sadly. "I'm sorry, Peter. Maybe you can find someone at Hogwarts that's worth your time."
I nodded although I knew I would never be able to find someone like her. My Petunia.
I hope you all enjoyed Her. This is the first time I'm giving Peter Pettigrew anyone to be interested in. I can kind of see this pairing working if Peter was actually able to talk to her. Who am I kidding? Petunia would probably never go for a wizard. But it does make for a cute Peter story. Plus Peter needs a little love. He's not all evil. Right?
