Chapter 1: Chasing Pavements
It was just a normal day at the school. The chocolate smell was invading every single corner of the university, as usual.
Brando had just arrived. It was 9:45 a.m. although his classes started at 10:00. "Fifteen minutes earlier, uh" he thought, "well, I guess I have enough time to drink some tea".
He started to walk towards the building, right to the "Subway", as the students used to call the last floor of the second building.
He entered to the coordination. There was no one but Rojas. He was looking for something inside his messenger bag.
-Hey, how you doing? –Brando said.
Rojas blushed a little. It seemed as Brando just caught him robbing a bank.
-Oh, hey, Brando. I'm good, how 'bout you? –he was smiling.
-I'm fine, thanks. What are you doing here? I mean, shouldn't you be doing pastoral stuff with freaking blessed people?
Diego laughed hard, but then, with the most serious face in the world, he answered.
-Yeah… Kinda. The school is pushing me to commit suicide. I have too much fucking stuff to do. I don't have time to prepare my classes, now. It's been such a crazy thing since Cuau is not here. This asshole used to do so many things that when he decided to go, he left such a big hole behind him. I hate that bastard.
Brando was now the one laughing hard. They kept talking and laughing once in a while.
The bell rang. The fifteen minutes seemed like they're only five.
The coordinator entered right after Diego left. Brando said hi, and in a second he was gone too.
-Hey, Diego! –he screamed. "Fifteen minutes there and I totally forgot to ask him about the reunion. What a dumbass" he thought.
-What? –he stopped walking. That smile was drawn in his face again.
-The reunion. When is it?
-Oh, it's on Monday. Monday at 7.
-Thank you. See ya' later.
Brando entered to a classroom.
"Yeah, see you, Brando" Diego thought. Why was he still smiling like a fool?
No, more important than that… Why was he still standing in the middle of the hall?
The bell rang a second time. "Nevermind" Diego thought "I have a class to give right now".
