Not Real Words
Severus watched in horror as Lilly walked over to James and the others. He felt his mouth twitch as she was about to round on James and the others for making a fool of him, for hurting her best friend, for being gits in general. Suddenly he felt a small twinge in his stomach and felt his mouth move without him knowing.
"Mud-blood." he growled, and he clapped his hand to his mouth.
Lilly's eyes went wide and he could see her tears about to come. He tried to shout out, but he couldn't. He felt like smirking, but he didn't want too, he hated that word. He had been the one that had once told Lilly that if someone called her that, he'd poison them. He felt like poisoning himself right now, he didn't know why he had said that. Even James Potter looked a little taken a back by him. Lilly ran, he wanted to run after her, but he couldn't. What would he say.
"So your true colors come out, ay Snape." growled a teenage Sirius Black.
"Y-you..." growled Snape, "Y-you must have made me."
"Your blaming us?!" yelled James, "For YOU saying that word."
"I would never call Lilly that on my own accord." Snape's face was contorted with tears and rage.
"Why don't you go tell her your little theory then. She might believe you." said Sirius.
"He'd have to prove we did anything." said Lupin, shyly.
"Shut up you filthy. . . " Snape couldn't speak, he ran off in the direction Lilly had and James turned to the others.
"Sirius, did you?" he asked in a serious tone.
"What? No, never." said Sirius, eyes wide.
"Lupin?" asked James, and then shook his head, "I didn't think he would ever say that to Evans."
"All it took was time." said Sirius.
"James, why don't you go talk to her?" suggested Peter.
"I think she just needs some calm time. I'll talk to her later. Right now she probably feels like how I'd feel if one of your betrayed me." James smirked.
"Like that would ever happen." said Sirius.
"Whoever would think that would need to be a full blown git." said Lupin.
"Yeah." said Peter with a smile as they began to walk.
Peter stayed back a ways and looked over by a tree where a few Slytherine's stood and gave a smile towards him. Peter bit his lip and put his want back into his pocket, he hoped he'd done the right things. After all, they had said that if Snape was out of the way, James could get her. He just wanted his friends to be happy.
