(Almost) One Word Prompt: Lull and Storm

Their relationship raged like fire and was as cold as ice, wild with passion and cool with emotions. Sometimes they would be quiet as silence, comfortable with the other's company, and sometimes they'd be loud and angry, shrieking like maniacs.

She could be sweet, smiling in the way he couldn't get enough of when he felt like the world was against him, bringing him the best soup he'd ever tasted whenever he was sick, finishing up the paperwork without Jason so that he could hang out with his friends/ Those were the times he knew that he could not let her slip through his fingers, the times when he thought he couldn't love her more.

She could be cold as ice and stiff as the earth beneath his feet, speaking formally and coolly to him. Those were the times he knew she was angry or hurt, and all he wanted to do when she called him "Jason Grace" was to smash down her walls and take away all of her hurt and pain and doubt. Those were the times he knew that he could not let anyone else be able to take care of her but him.

He could be funny and kind, acting like a complete fool to cheer her up, watching movies she knew he hated just to be with her, picking flowers for her at the crack of dawn then brushing it off like it was no big deal. Those were the times she knew he was a keeper, for staying with her while she pushed him away, and making her feel like a princes even if he felt like a peasant doing so.

He could be broken and bruised, not willing to talk or joke around like he usually did. Those were the times when she would let all her walls down and put her arms around him as he pulled himself together. She felt vulnerable when she did that, but she knew she was okay with being vulnerable if she was being vulnerable with him.

Their relationship was a lull and storm, slow and sweet at times but wild and crazed at others. That was how they worked, and it was okay with them.
