"Well, it can't be that bad, right?" Danny said, staring up into the angry mix of clouds hovering above. Suddenly, a strike of lightening illuminated the sky and Danny could feel small droplets of rain start to prickle his face.
"Way to jinx yourself, Danny," Sam said sarcastically, flipping her hood over her head. She continued walking, encouraging Danny to follow her with a flick of her finger. Tucker had long since left home after a soothing evening at the Nasty Burger.
He didn't need to be told twice. The halfa rushed to her side and let out a long sigh. "I really gotta' stop jinxing myself."
"You could say that again," Sam snorted.
"I really gotta'—"
"Okay," Sam put her hand up, "I didn't mean it literally."
Danny just grinned.
"I think it's going to rain harder," Sam cut into the abrupt silence. She absolutely hated silence – mostly when it involved her and a certain halfa. It made her nervous and her hands clammy and her heart speed up to an abnormal pace that left her even more nervous than before.
Danny looked up at the sky, at the black clouds that threatened to produce more rain should they tempt them. He frowned. "You're right, it is." He opened his backpack and searched for the umbrella his mother had packed before he left to school earlier that day. "Oh, man! I forgot it when I went back to my room!" he groaned.
Sam rubbed her hands up her arms and rose a brow. "Forgot what?"
"Umbrella," he mumbled.
"Well..." Sam started slowly, gazing up at the roaring sky only to distract herself from her best friends twinkling blue eyes. "You could always, you know, turn us intangible and then the rain wouldn't be much of an issue," she rushed, failing at trying to be casual.
Danny grinned and nodded. "Have I ever told you how much of a genius you are, Sam?"
"Once or twice," the girl managed smirked, shaky as it was from Danny's beaming smile.
Danny responded by wrapping his arms around her waist and, without waiting for Sam's permission, made her intangible and lifted her effortlessly into the air.
Sam managed to grip his shirt in support as the familiar tingle of invisibility shuddered through her. The cold was no more, and suddenly the biting ice from the rain melted right through her as it began to grow more and more dense.
"There!" Danny chirped. "All better!"
Sam was glad for the invisibility – he wouldn't be able to see just how red her cheeks had gotten as he flew her home.
A/N: I love doing prompts at random – they help get the thinking fluids going. I liked this drabble, it leaves a lot of room for speculation, don't you think?
