I do not own these characters; they are complete work of High School Musical Franchise.
"I don't know about this Gabriella." Troy said, strangely as he's always such an optimist.
"It's going to be great! They'll love you, I promise." Gabriella assured him taking his hand
They walked hand in hand down the huge corridors of East High until they reached the front lounge on the school. All of drama club was there, looking out of yet comfortable. Well, that was apart from Ryan was on edge and shaking his knee and fidgeting.
"Mercedes!" Gabriella exclaimed and ran into her arms.
When they finished their hellos and catch-ups, Gabriella introduced them all with Troy. Ryan was suddenly anxiously awaiting Gabriella to say his name, which would make Troy notice him. Or recognize him, rather.
"-and this is Ryan," Gabriella finished.
"Hey, Ryan, it's been a while," He said with an enchanting smile.
"Hi," Ryan replied. He had intended to come out casually and confidently, but it just turned out as a squeak. He cleared this throat and tried again. "Hey."
Kelsi nudged him and raised an eyebrow.
Gabriella turned to Troy and said, "You two know each other?"
Ryan tensed waiting for Troy to announce that they dated and for his new life to be over.
"Yeah, didn't you know? Ryan's a past pupil of East High!"
And that was all he said about it, much to Ryan's relief. But just to be sure Ryan took him aside while the others were distracted by the chocolate fondue that was being served while the warblers were performing.
"Troy, you can't tell anyone we had a fling. I'm not ashamed or anything, I just-look what happened to Gabriella! He had to move schools because of all the hassle he got. I don't want that. I'm happy here, you know?" Ryan blurted
"Of course, Ryan. It wouldn't be appropriate anyway, since Kelsi's here. But you'd better get back and explain yourself," He said nodding at Kelsi who just noticed they were talking and started to get suspicious.
"Oh thanks ma," Ryan said gratefully, hitting him on the back and rejoining Kelsi.
"What's with you today?" Kelsi asked, not looking at him and pretending to be paying attention to the warblers.
"Nothing! Just shut up about it okay?" Ryan snapped, loud enough for everyone to notice.
They all turned to look and him and everyone stopped singing and laughing.
"Jeez, go easy on her man," Jason said firmly
Kelsi shot him a glance long enough to take in how hot he seemed to her then.
"You stay out of this!" Ryan pushed him.
Sensing what was about to happen, Kelsi stepped in between them. Jason rolled up his sleeves, ready for a fight.
"What the hell are doing Ryan?" Kelsi yelled.
Ryan left, Kelsi didn't follow.
She returned to her seat followed by Jason.
Troy gestured to his friends to continue singing.
"I'll be right back," Gabriella told him, brushing his arm before heading out the door after Ryan.
"What's up with you?" Gabriella asked, concerned rushing after him through the gardens.
"It's nothing Gabriella, go away!"
"Ryan, I can help you," Gabriella said, when he finally reached him.
And that's when it happened.
Ryan sat down on a step to a greenhouse and Gabriella sat beside him. Ryan spilled his heart out. He told him everything he was too afraid to tell anyone, even himself. About East High and Troy, Gabriella tensed a little at that, and dating Kelsi to seem cool, his insecurities and he finished with
"Gabriella, I'm Gay."
I thought I would try something new. Please review and check out my other stories.
