Oracle
"I'm different!"
Hearing footsteps, she had called out. She had lain helplessly on the turret redemption line, hoping that someone would pass by – and someone did. She was picked up by the ends of an Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device, elation whizzing though her electronic veins.
"Thank you."
She meant it; she really, really meant it.
This girl – the holder of the portal device – reminded her of him. Maybe this girl had known him. She had to find out.
"Get mad! Don't make lemonade!"
This girl showed no recognition.
Wait. She knew this girl. She had seen her – the girl had been with the idiot core.
Oh, no.
This girl was following the idiot core.
This girl was going to be led to her doom.
"Prometheus was punished by the gods for giving the gift of knowledge to man. He was cast into the bowels of the earth and pecked by birds."
She had to warn this girl.
"It won't be enough."
She was right – she knew so instinctually. The idiot core knew no logic. There was no way to stop the idiot core with the plan he and this girl were carrying out.
"The answer lies beneath us."
Just please don't get yourself killed.
She knew this girl would end up in the old laboratories, with his recordings and the introduction of Her.
Speaking of Her –
"Her name is Caroline. Remember that."
She paused for a few seconds, hoping this girl would understand.
"That's all I can say…"
…but not all she wanted to.
This girl carried her towards an emancipation grill, but stumbled at the corner. She knew she was too bulky for the corner. Good luck, she silently wished.
She fell.
