I have no idea where this came from. Warning for OOCness, I tried to avert it but who knows if I succeeded. ^^''

Happy reading! =D

Ulquiorra never expected to be thrown out of his loop. The beginning of his existence had been quite turbulent, it's true, but slowly he managed to find stability. So the fact that a human managed to change anything about him made him quite baffled, to say the least.

He suspected it had something to do with her powers, at first. They were unusual and, as had been pointed out before, god-like. He would smirk, or something close to it, at that thought, Ulquiorra was never impressed by the powers of others – they did not matter, he had his own special trump card.

Most of the times, Orihime would try very hard to forget where she was, she would lie on her (she hated that she considered it hers) white couch and stare at the unnaturally white moon outside. Sometimes she succeeded and would find herself in a sort of trance, she was glad for it.

They were precious moments of relief until it was time for dinner and reality came crashing down on her like a tidal wave.

-&-

The only times he saw her were when he brought her food or had to escort her to the throne room and every time he did, there was no trace of fear in her eyes. That, he found truly remarkable.

-&-

Maybe it was the fact that she saw him at least three times a day, but he inspired no dread in her anymore. She could be brave when he was there, even if there were others with them – but even so, she found it odd, he was hardly harmless.

The only thing dreadful about him, in her eyes, would be the reminder of her situation, but even then she could find a spark of hope inside her. The feeling was almost intoxicating.

-&-

Was it her strength? He mused. Or maybe the faith she has that she won't stay here forever.

He shook his head; she was lying to herself.

It made sense in his head, perfect sense; however it would all disappear as soon as he met those fierce eyes of hers.

No, she truly believed in a good outcome and he would almost believe in one too – whatever that was.

-&-

She knew he was listening to her cry.

-&-

He could not understand how after hearing her friends were in severe danger she could still be brave. Despite of her tears, he was sure she would still look like she always did if he entered the room.

When he finally saw the reason for her hope, he realized that she really was lying to herself. For the first time, he did not believe his eyes.

-&-

Right now, she cannot understand why the idea o he being gone was so horrible. After all that had happened, after all he had done, it was incomprehensible.

Regardless of all that, she still remained unafraid; she still tried to reach out for him.

Soon she would realize she was not the only one who needed to be saved.

-&-

That's why, he though – there was never anything to do with her powers or with what made her hopeful.

It was simply what made her who she was.

Fascinating, was the last thing that went through his mind.
