Writers write about what they know, what they experience and build from there.
"Amy Farrah Fowler, will you marry me?"
They have been together for over 5 years now, had their ups and downs. Unlike many couples, they had taken their relationship slow, let it start as friendship until there was no holding back anymore.
The only conclusion was love.
Despite their love for each other, they had broken up for a few months after their fifth anniversary, but soon they realized that despite their problems, they could not be without each other.
They wanted to be together, they needed to be together.
After the reconciliation Sheldon had surprised Amy with a trip to Paris, just a week away from it all.
"Amy Farrah Fowler, will you marry me?"
Standing there in his strong arms, underneath the Eiffel Tower, in her mind still dancing with him in the slow drizzle, her mind surprisingly remained calm.
"Sheldon Lee Cooper, I would be honored to be called your wife, so yes!" she said, with a twinkle in her eyes, which were hidden behind her raindrops covered glasses.
As soon as she had spoken those words, the whole world when silent, so when Sheldon got down on his knee, she automatically held out her hand for the ring.
But the ring never came.
Sheldon had collapsed to the ground, not moving at all.
"Sheldon? Sheldon are you okay?" Amy muttered, still standing over him.
"I know it's a big step, but I do believe we are ready for it, we can do this together."
At that moment the small stream of blood appeared from underneath him…
5 Years later
"Go and get your father, tell him dinner is almost ready" Amy said to her son, as she placed the first pan on the table.
"Amy, it smells delicious" Sheldon stated as he moved into the living room, following his daughter while steering his electric wheelchair to his spot.
"Do you remember what day it is?" Amy asked as she walked back in again.
"Of course I remember Amy, 5 years ago was one of the happiest days of my life."
"Really? But you got shot down by a crazed maniac in a random shooting?"
Sheldon paused for a moment, to turn and look at his wife.
"That was one minor moment of that day, and even though it has changed our lives, it does not compare to the moment you said yes. While the bullet may have paralyzed me, and I will never be able to walk again, from that moment on I never have been happier. I do not need to walk. You made me fly."
As some of you know, I have strong connections to France, and Paris in particular.
So when the attacks on Paris happened on Friday night, I was in shock (as anyone is/was).
Luckily shortly after I found out at least all our friends and family are unharmed, so I had the feeling I should do something about it. As a writer I do what I know best, to write it out of my system.
No matter how dark the hour, we humans will always find a light on the horizon.
Mourn, grieve and look for comfort in each other. But always know that together we stand stronger, and nothing can stop us.
