Chapter 1: No Regret

Written by 4EVERA POLARBEAR LOVER

You can never really know the true feeling of being alive, unless you died. When you are lingering between separation from your physical form, or the choice to escape to a mysterious unknown, elsewhere.

Oliver had felt alive.

He had known the cold choking hands of death, and watched before his eyes as life dripped away from him, out of his grasp. He felt the darkest, and most aching pains of them all. And to be killed by the one person that mattered to you, it was too much. So in the first moments when you return to life again, a sane person wouldn't expect to see the smiling face of your murderer, coming closer to you with each step. No one, could blame the boy for his taken actions. The fear that he felt in his first moment of life was the reason that his friend laid limp on his back, body sprawled out and motionless upon the courtyard.

Oliver heard a muffled call, but in his dazed state, he couldn't be sure. The energy pistol slipped through his fingers, landing on the ground with a soft click. His vision was beginning to clear, and the world had lost its slanted view. A hand pulled him up and words were spoken to him. Nothing was heard, and he felt the hard hold of fingers upon his shoulders. Oliver simply stared in silence, at Jordan's shaking form, gathering Kaz into her arms. He blinked, when he saw strands of her hair, clinging to her face because of her shed tears.

At that moment he wanted to laugh. He had shot his best friend, without a second thought. Oliver felt no guilt, nor any emotion. He simply felt, empty. As he was being pushed away, the last he saw, was Jordan's face, buried within Kaz's unmoving chest.

"He hasn't spoken since he woke up."

Solar Flare nodded at Horace's comment. Through the window upon the door, the two could see the boy, sitting silently upon his bed, white sheets creased only on the one part that he sat. Eyes locked blankly on a world outside his window. The two were hesitant to enter, unsure of Oliver's state. After she had taken in a shaking breath, Solar Flare reached the doorknob, and turned.

Softly, the door of the room opened and the two entered. Oliver didn't move, he stared continuously at the windows, eyes not even acknowledging the presence of Horace and Solar Flare.

"Hey Oliver" Solar Flare greeted. What answered her was an emotionless profile. Horace and Solar Flare exchanged glances, and she decided to step closer to him.

"Oliver" Horace tried, his voice hoarse and tired. Oliver took a long breath, one would think that he was controlling something deep inside.

"Ol-"

The said boy's hand shot up to his ears, palms blocking out anymore sound. His soft breathing got louder, until it sounded like multiple suppressed growls. Solar Flare's face became worried, and she took a bold step in front of him. The boy was staring daggers into the floor.

"Oliver." Solar Flare said, and surprised him by taking his shoulders. Something inside of Oliver broke. He let out a scream, thrashing around in her arms. Tears started to spill out of his just dried eyes. "Oliver, what's wrong? We can-"

His hand had scratched her face in the midst of his thrashing. His screams were continuous and pained. She pushed him, and he fell back into the hard sheets that the hospital had to offer. He laid, head laying the pillows as to muffle his cries. His body would shiver once in a while, as a wave of tears came and he attempted to push them all away. Solar Flare left the room without another word, with Horace followed.

As the door closed shut, Oliver choked on a escaped sob.

"Solar Flare," she turned at the call of her name, looking at Horace. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." she answered, taking in a reassuring breath.

"Are you sure? I'll bandage up the-"

"Horace, I'm fine." Solar Flare said loudly, silencing him. A pause came in between the two people.

"I just...I don't understand."
