Authors note: No slash Rated T just to be safe. Hope you enjoy
Burgess and Roman met up in front of Sergeant Platt's desk like they did every day and waited for her to turn around. WHen Sean looked closely at Platt's face it morphed into something else in morphed into Danny Dezjockovitz. Kim's face did the same. He turned around and the same thing kept happening then he heard a shot go off. Bang!
Sean woke with a start to see that he had fallen asleep against the lockers while changing for the maybe 27th time. He had thought that coming to the 21st would help him forget about losing his partner to Danny's gang while working a case. He heard someone walk into the locker room. Their shoes clicking against the tile. Sean rummaged in his locker for his badge, he felt a stare on the back of his neck. "BUrgess I'm late I know. Sorry, but it is" he started
"Do I look like Burgess Roman?" Detective Jay Halstead interrupted.
"Uh no" Sean answered uncomfortably.
"Good I was scared that we had ended up with the same shoes. Somehow" He joked.
"Hey, Detective"
"Roman you know you can call me Halstead or Jay."
"Oh okay umm Jay,"
"Only Halstead at work, okay?"
"Got it Halstead"
"Good, see you around Roman"
"You too Detec...Halstead". Jay exited the room chickling to himself but underneath his happy exterior he was wondering about Sean. Losing his partner had been hard on him. That showed everyday since he had come to the 21st. And Jay could tell it was just eating at him to not have caught the last four members of Dezjockovitz's gang after his partner had been shot. Jay felt the guilt eating at him too, but the Sergeants at the 28th wanted Sean in protective custody in case him and Sarah had been targeted it wasn't just a wrong place wrong time shooting and he was never able to catch anyone. Jay was sure Sean blamed himself and thought that If he had been out in the field those four missing members would be in jail or dead. Jay wished Sean would talk to him or to anyone just do long as he didn't fall off the deep end. Because he was a good cop who had his priorities straight.
As Jay walked up the stairs into the bullpen Sean was joining Burgess at Platt's desk. "Roman" Platt said giving him a disapproving stare. "Your partner just got back from being shot and she chose to stay here with you. Do you want to make her get a bad car?
"No sergeant." Roman responded thinking about how this could have been a day at the 28th if he hadn't suggested they go poke around instead of waiting for backup to arrive.
"Too bad be on time next time" Platt said handing Burgess the keys to car 638 "And maybe you won't get a horrible car." The pair walked out grumbling about who's fault it was.
Meanwhile in the bullpen the team had a new case. Olinsky walked up to the whiteboard and pasted a photo onto it. Jay nearly lost his lunch, looking around the room he could tell that many others felt the same way as him. Voight walked up to the whiteboard marker in hand. Under the photo of the bloodied body of a small boy he wrote Samuel Mistoco. Voight turned and addressed the group "This is Samuel Mistoco, he was gunned down walked back from school. No ID on the shooter but witnesses say he fled in a gray sedan, partial license plate 17DG8. The team immediately jumped into action. Putting out APB's and trying to find the owner.
Jay thought he recognized the sedan, he racked his brain wondering if he had potentially seen it on the street. A thought made him very happy if he had seen it on the street he could have gotten a clear look at the driver. As he searched through his memories a call came in over the radio.
Roman and Burgess had been patrolling around a neighborhood when they saw a car overturned in a ditch. They shared a look. There had been a shooting earlier with this kind of car described in witness statements. Burgess lifted her radio to her mouth and began to speak when a figure stepped out of the car. He seemed badly injured so Sean jumped out of the car alongside Kim radios long forgotten on their shoulders. "Sir, sir, sir I'm going to need you to sit down while I call an ambulance." Kim said approaching the man. Sean looked on curiously and cautiously approached the victim. As they came upon him Sean searched for the source of the blood. He came up empty. It was shrugged off seeing as the source of it could have been hidden by all of it. The pair began to speak with him tried to get his name or a person they could call. But in their hurry a bulge near the ankle and one under his jacket were overlooked. Sean called out to his partner. "Burgess, come here."
His words were met with a harsh reply "Sean this man could be dying and you want to have a little cop pow wow."
"Burgess"
"Roman"
"Can you just listen to me, if never else right now" He said getting desperate.
"Sean," Burgess growled under her breath "this had better not be anything stupid."
"Trust me, its as serious as I could be right now"
This made something snap inside her "You know what Sean, no. I'm going to go over and help this man. The only thing that can stop me is if there was a gun to someones head."
"What if there is'" a low voice growled. Sean felt something cold press against his neck. He slowly raised his hands. "Keep them down. You'll attract too much attention" the owner of the voice quickly said. "Walk towards the car" both turned and began taking slow steps. The patrol officers were shoved into a car and sped out of the neighborhood.
At the predicint Ruzek was canvassing live police cams to see it he could figure out where the car was. "I got it!" he yelled. Adam had been very tempted to yell eureka he was so excited. "Gray van license plate 17DG8HE seen 20 minutes ago heading west on 19th street."
Voight popped his head out of his office "Halsted, Lindsay go" then ducking back in and continuing his phone conversation.
Halstead and Lindsay walked down the stairs bickering about who would drive and who was the best shooter along with who could put on their bulletproof vest fastest. During the drive There was only silence in the car. Jay was sure he recognized that license plate and car but couldn't put his finger on it. As him and Erin pulled upon the overturned car a young girl ran up to the car and began yelling and seemed so scared. "Help, help there's a man he's bleeding" The girl suddenly turned pale and retched on the concrete. Erin and Jat shared a look and He headed towards the overturned van while she dealt with the child.
"Hi, I'm Erin. You are?"
"Sarah"
"Hi sarah. Now are you alright?"
"Yeah, its just really gross." The girl said sheepishly. Ans she led Erin over to an ally where flecks of blood were visible on the concrete and brick.
Jay crept over to the car and discharged his glock checking to make sure there was no guns or bombs in then to check for any dangerous persons. He turned around and came face to face with a man clothed in all black carrying an AK-47 of all things. Jay raised his hands dropping the glock. when suddenly another man surged forward and shoved him roughly to the ground knocking him out. Gruff voices exchanged words over his unconscious body.
"What the heck Danny?"
"He locked me up for three years."
"You shot the girl."
"Her and her nosy partner were about to nail me."
"Not to mention the fact that the boys dad killed your dad."
"So."
"You'll get time for revenge on both of them but."
"But what?"
"I need answers first."
"About what?"
"Its none of your concern just know that these two may be a bit bloodied and broken by the time you get here."
"Thats fine with me."
"Alright what do we do with the girl." The man asked gesturing to Kim.
"Dump her somewhere let her hope the cops get there before she starves to death."
"Alright lets do it" The men then stuffed jay into the car along with Burgess and Roman.
Hey guys thanks for reading please review it makes me really happy too open up my account and see reviews on it. Also I am the type for foreshadowing so look out for clues. Please let me know how many chapters you think this should be. And the amount of character whump. I am open to ideas as well about where to take the story. Thanks.
