Hi y'all! I rushed through Gundam 00 in two days (not unusual for me, I did FMAB in 3), and I came up with a little drabble about these two characters cos, well, I just did. It's a little "what if" from Feldt's POV if after Anew's death, she went to try and comfort Lockon II (or Lyle).

It's a little like taking a look into Feldt's mind as the situation plays out, so the tenses may be a little off-putting and the sentences a little disjointed. That's intentional. Even when sober, human thoughts don't tend to play out as complete, grammatically correct sentences.

Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam 00. If I did, neither Lockon I or Anew would have died.

Feldt knows that this is wrong. She shouldn't be here, but she doesn't care.

You loved Neil. He loved Anew. This is not the right thing to do.

She knows what it's like to lose the person you treasure most. That you will never see them smile, or laugh, or even cry again. That they are forever gone. That the emptiness you feel inside your chest will never go away. It's still the same four years on.

Her legs refuse to move, staying in front of his door.

Don't go in. He's not Lockon Stratos.

She knows. The man behind the door, the man now named Lockon Stratos, who has locked himself in his room for the last four hours, is not Neil. He looks the same, but he's not the same.

She takes a tentative step forward, reaching out for the door. It makes her sick to the stomach that she would even consider it.

I'm only trying to comfort him.

It isn't exactly a lie. More rather, it's a half-truth. She knows that he needs comfort, but she wants comfort too. In short, it's as if she's throwing herself at another person when said person is at their most vulnerable, just to comfort herself.

Perhaps that makes it worse.

It's not pity.

Another half-truth. She really does care for him, even if not romantically. To her, all of the crew are like family, and Lockon is no exception. But she knows that she would not feel this way were it not for the fact the he resembled Neil. If it had been Setsuna or Lasse instead, she would be sad, but she wouldn't have even entertained the thought.

"Lockon…" she whispers.

It is at this moment that he opens the door. His mirthless gaze meets her needy stare, and a wordless understanding passes between them. There is no romance, no pity. Only a sharing of the sorrow at having loved and lost. And in both cases, lost far too soon.

Before she knows it, her tears begin to flow. Before she knows it, he moves forward and embraces her. As she feels the erratic heaving of his chest, she decides that this not wrong after all.

After all, he wanted to be held as much as she did.

And that's it. Read and Review, y'all.
