The Sky is Falling

Shippo was having the time of his life. Running about playfully in a grassy clearing between the village and the forest. The sweet smell of spring mingled in the air, mixing with the perfumes of wildflowers perfectly. It was, by all means, a carefree afternoon. The gang was resting throughout the village. Shippo suspected that Kagome was in the bathhouse. Miroku, however, would performing an 'exorcism' trying to vanish the 'evil spirits' plaguing the area, and 'protecting' the young maidens. Sango wouldn't be far off, ready and willing to crack his skull should he misbehave.

Nevertheless, Shippo remained in his solitary mood, preferring to search for unknown treasures, and fighting invisible enemies... while eating a lollipop.

Unfortunately for him, his peace and tranquillity would soon be shattered, as all of a sudden, out of the blue, something collided with the top of his head, before landing with a light thump onto the ground near his feet. Rubbing the dented part of his head, he bent down to study the culprit.

Perhaps, the little kitsune was prone to being a little paranoid- or was just truly caught up in his fantasies that day in particular- but, upon spying what had crashed against his skull, a sky blue pebble, Shippo couldn't help but gasp. Darting a look to the sky he shook his head, noting carefully that there was no dark holes in the blue expanse above him. Surely the heat was getting to him?

Plop. Again, another pebble found refuge on the top of his head. Shippo stiffened. Smack... POW... wham! Three more collided with his abused noggin.

All throughout this abuse, Shippo hadn't said a word- but stood temporarily paralysed in shock and fear, before running frantically towards the bathhouse.

"KA-GO-ME-EE! Quick! It's FALLING! AHHHHHHHH!"

Shippo couldn't remember ever feeling the urgency to run as fast as he did, and he only stopped when a dishevelled Kagome sped out of the bathhouse.

Her uniform was dripping wet and clinging to her frame, with her hair plastered to her face and neck. Nevertheless, her face was set, she was ready, with bow and arrows at hand, for anything...

"Theskyisfallingapiecefellonmyheadfourpiecesthey'regoingtosquishusall!!!" The little kitsune babbled as he ran forward to cling for dear life onto Kagome's leg.

Kagome frowned. Taking it all in as Miroku and Sango came rushing in their direction.

"What is it?!" Sango urged, a little startled because she couldn't see any signs of immediate danger.

"Is it Naraku?" Miroku asked, secretly feeling a little disappointed in having to leave his entourage...

Kagome looked solemnly from the wailing Shippo to her friends, before, in one fluid motion, picking up the traumatised kitsune and handing him over to Sango.

"Nothing. I'll fix it." She muttered absently before stomping off in the direction of the clearing.

It wasn't long before she found herself in Shippo's grassy playground. Anyone would have thought she was alone... but...

"Sit boy." She said with a finality in her voice. As something promptly thumped onto the ground, she turned onto her heel and headed back toward the village, as she didn't need to have a better look at the caught hanyou that spiralled onto the grassy ground at the base of a tree, with a few pebbles laying about his figure.

Leave it to Kagome to put two and two together... next time he'd wait until she had finished her bath... she may be more forgiving then...

But probably not.
