The Christmas had passed like a sigh, a magical sigh. It was the first Christmas that Samuel and Tracy were sharing as couple. This was the reason that they made an invitation to their friends and family in the new home at Christmas Eve.

But it was now water under the bridge. Now it was January. In Boston a wave of cold glacier had made lower sharply the temperature. Everything was covered under a thick layer of snow and many degrees below zero.

January was unequal to Sam, Diane and their son. Samuel was being brilliant in his studies. Teachers of the college had fixed their eyes on their fantastic student. His ideas and class presentations were simply awesome. Tracy was delighted at how things were going with her boyfriend and her; her life now seemed out of a dream of the one that did not want to wake up.

Sam, meanwhile, lately was spending more time in the bar than usual, because the house that the Corporation gave to Diane, and where they lived, did not seem to be cozy for him. Diane, finally, realized that her ideas to direct the publisher were rarely heard, and much less were obeyed. It seemed that the man appointed by Derek in order to help her, was who, actually, held the reins of everything. That made her sad, and she was unable to avoid thoughts like "What the hell am I doing here?" or "Why would leave it all in LA?".

It was late. Sam had just closing accounts monthly exercise and take stock of inventories of merchandise that had in the bar. He was going to turn out the light of office when he took a look at a small calendar on the wall. In a couple of weeks would be St Valentine's Day. He smiled. Seeing the February 14 on the calendar, a thought automatically crossed his mind . Diane. After so long, and still in love, much more than the first day. Who had said that, with the time, the passion was going away? He did not know, but certainly some idiot would say it, or worse, someone who didn´t know what was the true love.

After closing the bar, Sam was taking a walk to his car. He had it parked on a street near 'Cheers', one of those not very wide streets of the old quarter of Beacon Hill, red-tiled sidewalks, elegant Victorian homes and gaslight lamps. He did not know how many times he had walked those streets full of romance, but he loved it. Too bad that the Corporation didn´t have any of these houses for him and Diane.

Upon arriving home, he entered careful not to make noise. He didn´t want to wake Diane. After drinking a glass of cold milk in the kitchen, went up to the bedroom. Walking down the hall, was surprised to see that the bedroom still had light on. Arriving there, he saw Diane sitting in the bed, dressed in silk pajamas pink pale and surrounded by a pile of papers. Diane winced when saw the tall figure of Sam crossing the door from the darkness of the corridor. She was absorbed in her affairs and had not noticed the arrival of Sam.

- Sorry, did I scare you? - Sam apologized.

-No, it doesn´t matter! - She answered as if waking from a deep sleep - I was reviewing these accounts and reports. I was so distracted that I lost track of time, and I haven´t noticed that you've come home -Diane said with a friendly smile.- By the way ... What time is it ?.

- Very late -Sam said-, half past three in the morning. Have you dined?

-Well, no.

-Do Not?, come to the kitchen. I'll make you a sandwich.

Diane got up, approached Sam and gave to him a kiss in the lips. How her husband was taking care of her!

Once in the kitchen, after taking a sandwich and a cold chicken thigh, Diane carefully wiped her thin and elegant fingers, and handed the papers to Sam.

-What do you think of this? - Diane asked.

-What is it? - Sam replied as he eyed over those papers a few minutes.

-The Board of Directors has given me these documents in order that I give my assent and the firm thing.

-I would not sign it -said Sam- If you notice, there are a few strange movements of money... don´t know ... I wouldn´t know how to say it, but there are something shady. Don't take my word for it... I direct a bar, not a publishing house. This is too much food to put in my mouth.

So, what do you recommend I do? - Diane asked.

Talk to Samuel, he will know that to do - Sam pronounced-
