Family fluffle thing I thought of. Bumi is about 8, Kya is 5 and Tenzin is about 2. I own nada.
Katara was sitting in the living room with a good book. Aang was away on Avatar business for the next two days and she was thankful for the rare peace and quiet in the house. Her three rambunctious children, who were usually running around causing trouble, were quiet-very unlike them. Their exhausted mother relaxed into her chair when she heard them arguing.
"I don't believe you! I'm asking mommy!" Her daughter said walking into the room with her brothers.
Katara sighed before placing her book down on the table next to her before addressing them. "Asking mommy what?"
"Bumi says my name is stupid. That it doesn't mean anything. That's not true, is it mommy?" Kya asked.
"Of course not honey. Your name, in fact all of your names, are special in someway. You each are named after someone very important to your father and I." Katara explained picking Kya up and placing her on her lap.
"Really? You mean all three of us?" Her oldest son asked, walking towards them.
"Of course. You, Bumi, are named after one of your father's oldest friends, King Bumi of Omashu. He was one of the wildest men I have ever met, but one of the kindest and bravest, just like you will be." Katara explained to him.
"Awesome! I'm named after a King!" Bumi proclaimed to his younger siblings.
"What about me mommy?!" Kya asked from Katara's lap.
"You my dear are named after my mother. She died when I was very young but she was an extraordinary woman. She was strong, caring woman who always did what she thought was right. You're already so much like her." Katara explained and Kya smiled.
"I'm named after Gran-Gran! Ha ha!" Kya said to he folder brother. The two of them began to argue again before Bumi saw his brother crawling on the floor.
"Wait, mommy, what about Tenzin? Who is he named after?" Bumi asked as the arguing stopped.
"Good question honey." Katara said, lifting the toddler in her arms next to his sister. "Tenzin is named after your father's Airbending master, Monk Tenzin Gyatso. Your father loved him very much, he was like a father to him. Your father always said that he was a wonderful teacher and a great friend. Just like I know he will be." Katara said, stroking a hand down her son's back.
"Wow, so I guess all of our names are special huh?" Kya said softly.
"Exactly. The people you are named after were extremely special. Just like the three of you. Never think anything different okay?" Katara said, poking each of her children's noses with one finger, relishing in their smiles. The silence lasted for a few moments before they started arguing again.
"Well I am more special than you Kya! I'm named after an Earth Nation king! That's the best!" Bumi said as Kya gaped at him. Katara put her down to the floor with her little brother, both following Bumi out of the room.
"I'm named after Gran-Gran! That's better than you!" Kya argued as the three of them left the room.
Katara giggled at her children as they continued to argue over who was more special. Leaning back onto her chair she listened to them until they ceased and fell asleep. Going to say goodnight too each of them before turning in herself, Katara couldn't help but feel lucky to have the three most special children in the world.
