James Potter had found an empty compartment on the Hogwarts Express before sitting himself down and pulling out his copy of Quidditch through the Ages. He was reading a few minutes before the 2nd of the Marauders entered the compartment.
Making sure his presence was known, Sirius Black had thrown himself onto the lap of his friend, and pulled him onto the compartment floor. James had landed with an oomph! as Sirius shouted "PRONGS!" repeatedly, and whacking him on the head with his copy of Quidditch through the Ages, repeatedly. You could hardly hear the sigh as Remus Lupin took a seat near the door and buried his nose in a book.
When James and Sirius had finished wrestling on the floor, they sat on seats across from eachother, holding stitches in their sides. James casually pulled a fluttering golden snitch from his pocket. Letting it fly from his hand and dart around the compartment, he caught it again in one quick reach. He looked round to see both of his friends preoccupied, and said:
"It's not got quite the same perk without Wormtail peeing himself in the background."
As if on cue, Peter Pettigrew poked his head through the door, and sat next to Remus, who was still deep in his book. James had let go of the golden snitch before greeting Peter warmly, and after making sure he was seated opposite him, began catching the flying ball over and over again, to the delighted squeals of Wormtail.
Sitting on a bench two compartments down was Lily Evans, sitting with her legs up across the seat, book in her hands. Her long red hair fell in front of her face, as she sat alone on the Hogwarts express. She sighed as she turned the page; she had missed Hogwarts over the summer, but now that she was going back, she was already beginning to miss home.

The Hogwarts start-of-term feast was well underway, and Lily was sitting with a group of friends at the Gryffindor table, enjoying spending time with them again. They had barely even written to eachother over the summer, and there was a lot to catch up on. She was deep in thought when her friend Alice brought up a very strange question.
"Lily, have you heard from James Potter over the summer?"
All eyes turned to Lily, as she just looked at her friend, quite confused.
"No," she said, "Why on earth would you ask?"
Alice just shrugged, saying,
"Well I heard him say your name when we followed them from the carriages earlier and I just wondered if you two had… I don't know… Hooked up over the summer?"
Lily looked down the table towards the Marauders, who were deep in conversation, leaning across the table as they talked. Lily didn't know what to say.
Remus sighed and went on eating his plate of chicken as he pulled a book from his bag with one hand. When he'd finished swallowing he said,
"I'm telling you Prongs, it won't work! Lily's too smart for that kind of thing. And besides, she doesn't like Quidditch, she doesn't like Zonko's and she definitely doesn't like you. It's your 'dream date', not hers. I'm sorry to say it James, but you need to stop trying!"
Sirius banged his fists hard on the table at this comment.
"What? And give up? The Marauders are not quitters Moony! Well, with the exception of Wormtail of course."
Peter looked up from his plate full of food at this point, and glared indignantly at Sirius. Though he knew it was true.
"And besides," Sirius continued, "James could get any girl he wanted in this place. He doesn't even need to try. Just look how cute he is!" He grabbed James' cheeks and put on a voice that made Remus want to hurl.
"Look, no offence Prongs, but you couldn't get Lily. She's just too… smart for you."
"Hey!" shouted James, who had just been brought out of his daydream. It had involved Lily and a dark room… and some firewhisky. "I'm third in our class after you and Lily!"
"James, that's because the other people in our class are Sirius, Peter and a bunch of giggling 4th year girls."
"5th year, moony! We are moving on." Sirius' eyes rose to the ceiling as he stuck his out his tongue and began counting on his fingers as he thought. "Can anyone remember what comes after fourth the golden eagle?"
"Hairy chest?" suggested Peter.
"No that's 3rd," said Remus, as he carried on reading Hogwarts: A History. "And besides, I reckon everyone just makes it up after four."
"Well who cares?" declared Sirius, throwing one arm around Peter, and raising the other proudly in the air. "We are 5th years! Seniors! One year older, One year wiser!"
"I don't know," said Remus, "I have the feeling that you've gotten stupider over the summer Padfoot."

Hey all! If by any small chance this seems kinda familiar, i have taken it from an old account and reposted it. It's got some small changes but it pretty much the same.
Well! This was kinda a little intro to the story; it's gonna be pretty light-hearted, nothing majorly angsty... for now at least. I've got a couple more chapters already lined up so if you tell me what you think i can get started on posting some more marauder-y goodness!
Please Review!
Go on. you know you want to.
