It had been a long time since anyone had asked Dean what he thought or wanted. Sure Sam would ask what he wanted to eat when he stepped out to get food or went to the store. But in the long run, that didn't really count, did it?

All his life, the people he called family had needed him for one reason and one reason only. To look after Sam and do the job they wanted him to do. Despite his submissive tendencies, despite he need more physical care than Sam could stand with his alpha qualities? Despites every thing he had been through, losing his mother and his father the same night, because the man who had held Sam after the fire was certainly not John Winchester. Despite everything, the only people he counted on were there because of Sam.

And now Dean had to choose. Michael or ….was there even another choice? The world was ending, the only people he cared about were dead, and Sam had stopped taking care of him a long time ago. Cas …Castiel was a long off dream that was better off dead.

No, Dean had no reason to say no anymore. He was out of reasons to fight.

A tear slipped down his cheek. Enough was enough. His instincts called out to him too loudly to ignore. They pounded in his ears and made him deaf.

He slid down the bathroom wall and onto the floor, his breath catching in his throat as hoarse sobs. When he reached the tile, he clutched his head and curled into a ball, unable to stand it anymore. His fill of attention was empty, had been for a very long time. He'd finally hit rock bottom, and now he was paying for it.

He stayed on the floor for a very long time, unable to muster the strength to get up. He'd long ago cried himself out and now sat shaking with misery and loneliness.

He was too caught up in his misery to hear the knocking on the door or hear the door open.
