Ten Years.
Her dress, emerald as per the rules, floated her as she walked through the room. 10 years it had been since the war. 10 long years, since she lost her parents and some of her friends. 10 years since she had called herself a Gryffindor. 10 years since she shared a kiss.
Hermione Granger organised the 10th year ball for the anniversary of the war. For years she had avoided the duty, until now. And nobody knew why.
The invitation came in the mail.
"You are invited to attend the 10th anniversary ball of the second Wizarding War."
The words struck a nerve within Narcissa. For 10 years she and her son had suffered under house arrest for their crimes in the war. For 10 years they hadn't been invited to anniversary balls of the war. Until now. Of course Narcissa read the papers, she knew that Hermione Granger had finally stepped up to the duty of organisation. Narcissa also knew that Hermione Granger had testified for the lift of the Malfoy's house arrest. While she was grateful for the lift of the house arrest, Narcissa wanted to know why. So she would attend this ball, if for just the chance to ask Miss Granger, why?
Why after so many years did the Malfoy's finally have an invitation? From her of all people?
"Women are required to wear a different colour dress or robes to their house colours at Hogwarts. If you did not attend Hogwarts then you may choose a colour from the houses; red, yellow, green or blue. Hogwarts ex-students that are attending with a date must find a date from a different house at school or from another school entirely."
Narcissa sighed. If she couldn't wear her green robes, then the next best option was Ravenclaw blue. At least it matched her eyes.
"One last request… This year is a masquerade. Make your anonymous status count."

NOt 100% with this newbie but I thought I'd put it out there and see what you guys thought. Should I continue?
Continuation would be a bit of looking at where 10 years have taken a few of our favourite characters and perhaps a bit of a tangle of romance between my favourite pairing. ;)
