I KNOW I SHOULD'VE FOLLOWED YOU HOME- EMMA/AUGUST

August meets up with Emma 10 years after he abandoned her after the years they spent together when they were teenagers. The man she was in love with so long ago. So long ago… so naive

Emma is angry and hurt about the man she was in love with who left her with nothing all those years ago and left her homeless, after she drove home drunk and crashed her parent's car and the Police found drugs in the car. Emma nearly died as she was not wearing a seatbelt and was driving at a fast speed and crashed into a traffic light.

She could not pay the fines she accumlated and lost her home and ended up in jail for the drugs she was in possesion of. She lost her friends, her family and everything she had after they refused to believe she was not taking drugs herself. She was homeless on the streets for 3 years after being in jail for 2 years. She had to earn her way back to everything ALONE with no one there for her. Her resentment over the foolish mistake August made leaving drugs in the car never left her. She felt angry at herself for not noticing any were there and the fact he never told her. She swore to herself to never fall in love again.

Their love was everything to both of them. They were each other's lives. Not a day would go by when they wouldn't want to be together. They ell in love quickly. It was only days before they were besotted with each other.

Emma can recall all the happy times they spent together, parties, taking pictures and how wonderful it felt to be in love with him. August remembers all those moments.. the way she looked at him with those sparkling eyes…. the way they lit up like the lights from the street lights as they drove home from the club. The happiness she gave him.. she was his world. But he got caught up in the world of parties and drugs and that one night.. that one night… he let her go he was taking drugs. He forgot he left them in her parents car when she drove him to the never got over what he did.. or her. But he could never go to her and apologize as he was ashamed. He remembers the last he saw of her she was driving away in the corvette her parents let her use. He knew he should've hopped in that car with her so she didn't have to be all alone, or grabbed a taxi to go after her and stop her. He knew all along she was drunk but was too stoned to care.

Emma and August fight and argue, Emma breaks down in tears and screams at him. August yells at Emma and Emma hops into her yellow bug. She fights uncontrollable tears as she starts up her car she worked so hard to get.

The last August ever sees of Emma is her yellow bug driving away into the night with the street lights shining, just like how they were all those years ago.

The song is 'I should've followed you home' by Agnetha Fältskog and Gary Barlow.

T.V show is 'Once Upon a Time' about the Ship 'Wooden Swan'

Has a bit of a 'The Notebook' feel.

THIS IS MY FIRST FAN-FICTION. So sorry if it's filled with grammar errors and badly written. I'm no good at writing. I might do 'Perfume in the Breeze' and 'I was a flower' featuring them as part of this story as well. I also may write a different version of this story to follow more of the plot with the song. May also might extend on with what happened on the show that they grew up together 3
