Addiction wasn't funny; he knew it wasn't the path he wanted but… It was already far too late. Caleb was constantly bitching at him that he was going to get addicted and wouldn't live much after his eighteenth birthday.

He hated when Caleb was right, which unfortunately happened a lot. He hated listening to the same thing over and over being lectured as if he was a child, as if he wasn't well aware of what would happen to him if he kept on like this.

When he was younger it had been different, back then he had just loved causing trouble, loved getting the slip on jerks who tried to mess with him. Caleb would lecture him back then as well.

He didn't want Caleb trying to act like his parent in the absence of his lack of parental figure. Caleb was blind and didn't realize the state he had already dropped too. The power was sometimes all he thought about, the ecstasy of Using. He would lay awake for hours struggling with the urge to Use just for the heck of it. And when he did finally manage to fall asleep he would DREAM about Using.

But what could he do now? The power wasn't something he could just give up. It was always there itching in the back of his mind. The rush of Using wasn't something he could ignore. How could he? He was barely holding on now as it was.

He was addicted and there was no getting around it but he had already decided that if he was only going to live to eighteen he might as well have fun until then. What was the point of even trying to hold it in now? Except for exposing his Covenant brothers, what did he have to lose except for his own life which was pretty much gone now anyways?

Whenever he found his thoughts trailing down this dark road he would always distract himself with something else. There was no reason for him to be working himself into depression. He was resigned to his fate by now. He was going to be sure to go out with a bang.

"Reid! REID!"

Reid jerked awake with a start exhaling all the air in his lungs. He heard resounding crashes as the desk in the room was flung into the wall and Tyler's stereo was smashed into the floor.
"Dude, that is not cool!" Tyler groaned.
Reid would have snapped at him if he weren't half asleep and disoriented. "What the hell happened?" he scrubbed his eyes.
Tyler's eyes were focused on the room, his iris blackened and everything that had been flung or broken was quickly repaired. "You were Using in your sleep." He answered as his eyes returned to normal.
Reid was instantly worried but didn't let it show on his face or in his voice, "Huh… Weird."

Tyler turned to face his roommate, "Maybe you should tell Caleb about this…"
Reid's lip curled up, "Like it's any of his business? Hell no."
"But…" Tyler started but then he saw Reid's expression and dropped it. Though he still had the nagging feeling he really should tell Caleb. But what good could it do?
Reid felt disgusting, he was covered in sweat. He was really thankful for the fact that he didn't remember what it was that he had dreamed about.
