So...I decided to write a Scotty fic become the guy is just adorable and doesn't get enough love :) I don't know where this is going yet, but hopefully that'll come as the story progresses. Enjoy! (This chapter is short, just an introduction)

I do not own Star Trek. That would be super AWESOME

Engineering had never been popular with the female gender. This wasn't biased opinion; it was simple, straight forward and statistically proven fact. True in the 18th century, it was still true in the 23rd. For some little known (and not particularly cared-about) reason, girls just stayed away from the profession. End of story.

Newly graduated engineering officer Rosalind Icarus had come up with three reasons for this anomaly:

1. When someone asks about your major, a female engineering student gets weird looks when she states hers. It was stupid really-this being the 23rd century and all, will gender equality pretty much sorted out. Just not for engineers.

2. A female engineering student much never act like a female. Such action will cause her peers to treat her like she's some contagious disease. And then proceed to make lewd jokes at which she is the butt of.

3. Why would a female even bother becoming an engineering student anyway? That's sentencing her to four rigorous and often seemingly pointless years of ridiculously complex physics, random math equations, and no spare time. A female may as well go marry some rich Ferengi trader and forget about the whole thing.

These reasons, of course, were developed from personal experience.
