Where is home
Where is home?
Chapter 1
Bring! "At last school is over! You guys can come to my house, and we can dress fancy and put on make- up!" Mary screamed so she could be heard over the loud group of kids.
"Oh, that is an amazing idea!" shouted Lizette.
"Wait here. I'll be right back," said Mary. "Yoo hoo! Destiny! Don't walk or talk with me today. If I am seen being lovey- dovey with you- I could lose my spot of being most popular. My friends wouldn't want to go down either so… you get it? Anyways, would you like for me to risk my popularity? Probably not. Chao!" Mary walked away with pride.
"I got everyone ready," said Lizette.
"Perfect, Zetty!" Mary said happily. The whole group turned and took their right hand to flip their beautiful, long hair of their right shoulder.
Destiny ended up taking the back route, so she wouldn't humiliate Mary, her step sister. "Hey, Destiny," I walk home from here. I didn't know you also did," said Matt Brooks.
"Oh, hi Matt. I didn't know you knew that I exist," replied Destiny.
"I always see you around. I say hi, but you are always in a rush, so you probably don't hear," said Matt.
"Sorry. I mean I don't get it. Why does my life suck? My step sister is popular and I am treated like a slave girl. She and all my other step sisters are treated like princesses. Mary is always the best, but do my foster parents know that she doesn't do any work? And why am I talking to you?" Destiny blurted out.
"Don't worry, but you are Mary Dickson's step sister? I never knew that. Actually I don't think anyone knew that," Matt said flabbergasted.
"That's exactly why I am taking this route," Destiny muttered.
"What! I can't believe Mary is so cold. Don't worry. I won't tell a single soul. I want to try and find some way that I can help you," said Matt, shocked
"Listen, there is nothing you can do. It's a cold world. If Mary finds out that I am talking to you, she'll kill me. She's afraid that if I talk to you, then you might like me and not her. Okay?" Destiny asserted.
"But… but," Matt stammered.
"I'm sorry, but I have to go," Destiny spoke quickly while walking away.
"Hi Mary! How was your day?" asked Deborah.
"I say it's perfect, like me," replied Mary.
"Oh. It seems like you have invited a few friends. You are all probably very tired. Where's that rat- faced girl?" asked Deborah.
"She took the back route-" Mary was interrupted.
"I'm home," Destiny said quietly.
"You should have been home a long time ago!" shouted Deborah.
"I'm… I'm so… sorry ma'am," whispered Destiny.
"Quit your whining and put their coats on the rack. Then get in the kitchen and cook for them!" Deborah commanded.
"Yes ma'am," whispered Destiny.
"Umm…….. Let's go to my hot tub," Mary said, while leading her friends to her house. The whole family has their own houses on the estate.
"Awesome!" all the girls screamed.
"Ma'am, now what shall I do?" asked Destiny.
"Go get two gallons of milk. Hurry!" replied Deborah.
Destiny ran to the coat rack and grabbed her baggy and muddy old coat. "Ma'am, may I have some money to buy the milk?" Destiny asked politely.
"Are you broke?" Deborah asked rudely.
"Unfortunately, yes," whispered Destiny.
"This time I'll give it to you, but learn to get a job," said Deborah.
"But I don't get time-" Destiny was interrupted.
"We'll discuss this later. Now hurry and go!" shouted Deborah.
Quickly, Destiny took the beautiful green papers and ran off. "What a whiner," Deborah muttered.
