A woman's piercing scream cut through the early morning on November 1, 1981. She had woken up with a child on her doorstep. Not just any child, no, it had to be her nephew. She was quick to shut the door when the neighbors came out to see what was happened. Little did she know, her sister was watching from above sadly, as she knew nothing good would come from this setup.

Years went by, and Lily Evans Potter watched her sister, Petunia Evans Dursley, abuse her child. She cried into her husband's shoulder when her son, Harry Potter, had a particularly miserable time. James Potter would just allow her to cry and would watch his son sadly. It was no secret that they would've given anything to be down there, raising their child.

More years passed, and Lily and James would cry, laugh, smile, and worry as Harry's years at Hogwarts went by. People died and if they were friends of the couple or of their child, they would run up to them and hug them. When Sirius died, they were there to comfort him and ask for information about their child, though they already knew everything. The same happened with Nymphadora Tonks Lupin and Remus Lupin when they died in the war. When Fred Weasley died, they told him the secret of watching people from heaven. He gladly thanked them.

From above, they watched, smiling when Harry and Ginny married. They laughed when James Sirius Potter was born and Ginny broke Harry's hand when she went into labor. They cooed when Albus Severus Potter was born and James Sirius greeted him sweetly. They smiled when James Sirius got a small toy broomstick and zoomed around the house. They cried happily when Lily Luna Potter was born, for the couple was now 28 and 27. The small family was growing up so fast. When it was finally time for Harry and Ginny to leave the world below, Lily and James were there was there, waiting. Molly and Arthur had died years before and were there to greet their daughter and son-in-law. Petunia and Vernon Dursley had also died and waited solemnly to greet their nephew and tell him that they were sorry. Or well, Petunia was. Vernon still hated the boy, or man now.

Lily and James smiled when Ginny and Harry walked through the gates of heaven, hand in hand. They smiled when the two walked up to them in the form of 17 and 18 year olds. They smiled when they finally got to meet their son. They smiled when he hugged them. They smiled when they finally got to meet their daughter-in-law. And finally, they smiled when they realized they would spend eternity with their son and daughter-in-law. Now, they just had to wait until it was time for their grandchildren to move on. But, they had eternity. They would see them soon. What was the wait?
