Day 2: Thankful- Kya is thankful to have someone like Lin to comfort her and make her feel safe.
A/N: This was probably the hardest prompt for me so I winged it!
Kya flew upright, sweat dripping from her brow. Her chest felt tight, not being able to breathe as she grasped at her chest. Panic started to sit in as her eyes filling with tears but she suddenly felt at ease when she felt Lin's arm on her back. Lin sat up, her other hand going to Kya's cheek to turn her face slightly to look at her.
"It was just a nightmare, alright." Lin said, as she stroked her cheek with her thumb. Kya looked into Lin's eyes. "I'm right here," Lin said softly. Kya took a deep breath, nodding her head as she looked at Lin. The waterbender leaned into her, wrapping her arms around Lin's neck. Lin wrapped her arms around her lover's waist squeezing lightly. They stayed there for a moment, just long enough for Kya to calm down.
Lin moved back, wiping the tears from Kya's face. She smiled, kissing her gently on the lips and in return Kya smiled as well.
"Let's get some sleep, okay?" Kya nodded as Lin leaned back against the bed. Kya snuggled close to Lin. She looked up at Lin pressing her lips against her lover's.
"I love you," Kya whispered as she laid her head down. Lin smiled, taking her hand to Kya's cheek, gently caressing her cheek as she looked over Kya's face.
"I love you too," Lin said before she kissed her forehead.
Kya closed her eyes, so thankful that she had Lin. She had really done a lot for her during her recovery. She was always there to comfort her when she woke up frightened and breathless. Just being in her arms, Kya knew she was safe and loved.
A/N: I usually stick with humor but I really like this… It might not be funny but it's cute so I like it and I hope you do too! Also it's really short. xD I figured it was better than nothing and the other prompts aren't as short so don't even worry about it. Haha!
