This was a little assignment we had to do in our US II history class that I thought I'd type up, I shall explain more at the bottom.

Dear Marianne,
This town is going to drive me crazy! While Alfred is out for weeks at a time driving cattle, I'm stuck here with the kids, nothing to do but worry. James won't say it, but he misses him greatly. I hardly see him anymore either, though. He recently took a job putting up those barbed wire fences. Those things really make a stink in this town. People just get all bent about their land and cows. They even get violent! Just yesterday a man was shot and killed not three blocks away. And Amelia wonders why I don't let her go out after dark. I wish Al would just hurry up and get home! We need him here for us. I'll be grateful when this big cattle to-do just blows over. Those people back east probably don't even have a clue what we go through just so they can have a nice steak. I'm sorry…I know I must sound awful whiny, but I just can't help it. There are plus sides I suppose. James and Alfred are both making good money, and Amelia has taken a job teaching school. I never thought I'd see her settle into such a domestic role, but she loves it and it suits her well. Still though, this town wears me down. Even the livestock seems against me! The other day one of our neighbor's sheep got out and wandered into our little garden, they destroyed everything...
That's it, I've convinced myself. When Alfred returns from this drive we are leaving Texas and moving back to Canada. Hopefully we will be seeing you at home in the near future!
Sending love from the Wild West, Your cousin,
-Madeline Jones

Ok, so in our History class we have been going over the Cattle boom that took the American west by storm in the 1800's. For this we had to assume the role of a Cowboy, a Lawman, or a Civilian writing to a loved one. So, we have Madeline (Nyo!Canada) writing to her cousin Marianne (Nyo!France), who lives in French-Canada with her husband Arthur, about living in Texas at this time with her son James (2P!Canada), daughter Amelia (Nyo!America), and her husband Alfred, who is often away being as he is a Cowboy (Fitting, yes?)
