Ring, ring…Ring, ring…

The toys were new. And clueless. No, not stupid, for they had only been here less than ten minutes. But it was easy to say that they were clueless. Maybe even naïve.

The play phone made sure to smile as he stared up at the new cowboy toy, but only to make sure that Lotso didn't suspect him. He knew the strawberry scented bear knew that the phone knew too much. He knew that Lotso could easily break him. Emotionally and physically. In fact, the phone was often amazed that he hadn't been broken yet. That he could still stand up to the bear; that he could still have the courage to tap continuously at the cowboy's boot, hoping he'd look down in realization, and pick up the darn phone, for he had to warn the cowboy. Before it was too late.

Suddenly the cowboy glanced down, and the phone's eyes brightened considerably. Maybe he could save this toy before it was too late. And as he stared at the cowboy, he noticed his eyes seemed empty, confused, frustrated. The phone sighed within. The toy must've been thrown out. But something about the cowboy's outer appearance, and how he periodically stared at his friends with anger, the phone suddenly wasn't so sure. There was probably more to the story than he could figure out in the spam of two seconds. And he didn't need to know it anyway. All he needed to do, was warn the new recruits, as Losto liked to call them.

But the toy cowboy wasn't in the mood for what appeared to be fun and games from the toy phone. After forcing a smile onto his lips, the cowboy looked away from the phone, back towards his friends as they stared in awe at the Caterpillar Room, entranced, enthralled. Anxious, the phone hit the cowboy's boot a bit harder this time, starting to fear for the toy's life.

Lotso turned suddenly, and a glare appeared on his face for only a second as he looked towards the phone. His look was enough to send chills running down the phone's cord, and he slowly backed away from the cowboy. He couldn't push his luck if he wanted to survive till Lotso's downfall, whenever that would be. Sighing, this time outwardly, the phone gazed sadly at the retreating cowboy as he joined his friends' circle. His smile was still pained, and the phone wondered all at once if this cowboy was different, if he was "the family type", as Lotso called them.

'Goodluck, Cowboy,' the phone thought bitterly, as he rolled back into his corner, away from the kid's door, away from any toys, away from Lotso. 'You're gonna need it.'

So tonight I watched the must amazing movie, Toy Story 3, for the second time! And in the beginning of the movie, when we're first introduced to the Daycare, I noticed the phone tapping Woody's foot, and I wondered, "Huh, I wonder if the phone was trying to warn him that far back in the beginning." And thus, this little one-shot was born. Who knows, I might make this one-shot into my third drabble series! I love doing that…anywho, hope you enjoyed. Thanks for reading!
