I'm a goner,
Sam shoved against the other being inside himself. He wouldn't let it end like this. He wouldn't let Lucifer beat him. Sure it was an archangel, but he was Sam freaking Winchester. If he let this beat him down what good was he? It was the last thing he could do to make it up to the world. After all, he let the devil out in the first place.
Dean watched as Sam (no, not Sam, Lucifer) seemed to pause for a moment, wincing in pain as if something were giving him a headache. He grinned despite the blood and bruises that covered his face.
"I'm here, Sammy. I'm here." He murmured past the blood on his lips.
Sam's eyes met Dean's, and for the moment, Dean knew it was really him.
"Dean." His voice sounded like he was being strangled, "I've got him. It's gonna be okay now."
He turned away from his older brother, looking out towards the rest of the cemetary, taking in his final view of the world. He pulled the rings out of his pocket, threw them to the ground, said the chant, and opened the gates to the cage. A glance back at Dean revealed that he was bravely hold back his tears.
"Goodbye, Dean."
Someone shoved into him. It was Michael. But Sam wouldn't let him stop this. Couldn't. For Dean - he needed to do this.
And so they both fell.
And so Sam was gone.
