Reading the Books: A Fable
Mark the fanfic writer was on a writer's block. He was sitting on it, thinking of of some stupid idea to write a story about.
Alas, he didn't come up with anything so he decided to jump off and read some fanfiction for fun.
WOW! He was amazed at the quality and originality of some of the stories. Percy Jackson characters reading their books for fun? An ingenious idea!
Mark decided to write his own "Reading the Books". After all, it was an idea totally new and so not repeated! Why not?
First, he had to kidnap some PJO characters and bring them to the past Olympians so that the Olympians could learn the future. Nothing can go wrong with this time-travel idea.
This was going to be good.
Moments later, the future demigods-Percy, Annabeth, Nico, and Thalia-were in the past with the Olympians.
They had no idea what was going on and were chatting about the event until a figure blazed into a room.
Mark was carrying five books. He set them down in front of Zeus and soon, the other characters began to question him. He raised a hand.
"Olympians of the past and demigods of the future," he said importantly, "You are brought together for something important."
"For what?" demanded Zeus.
"For reading the books on the life of Percy Jackson of course," he said as if it was obvious. To his surprise, everyone in the room groaned.
"Again?" said Percy who had face-palmed.
"You would not believe how many times we had to do that shit," moaned Ares.
"Really?" asked the writer, "I only saw one on the fanfiction site."
"Dumbass," said Athena, "You only looked at the first page. If you spent a little more time reading, you would have seen that there are at least over a million stories that have us reading the damn stories."
"Well," said the writer bashfully, "I suppose it isn't right for me to inflict this punishment on you guys. I'll use my super special awesome author powers to fix this."
"You better!" thundered Zeus, "Or I will put my foot in your ass."
Mark snapped his fingers and the stupid story was canceled.
Moral: Don't piss off the gods by forcing them to read about Percy Jackson.
