Snarling menacing my silver needle fur rose to form an impenetrable defense. Leaving m pups in the den I crawled out to investigate who the foreign scent belonged to. Just as I suspected a bobcat was sniffing around my den too close for comfort. With my mate out hunting it was up to me to protect our family. Circling each other I looked for an opening to sink my fangs into the cocky feline.

"We told you to leave! You don't belong here you unearthly demon!" The bobcat snarled at me baring his impressive array of fangs.

"Leave now and you will live." I snarled back just as menacingly. Shaking my pelt out, the moonlight glittered off of the thousand and more needles that made up my pelt, causing them to clink together eerily. Dodging a sudden attack I swung my tail like a porcupine would, into the bobcats face. Yowling in sudden pain the bobcat leapt back dripping blood from the thousands of needle pricks.

"I warned you." I attacked head-on knowing and trusting that my needle fur would make for an impossible escape as well as a deadly weapon. Latching my fangs into his side I shook my head vigorously tasting his sweet blood flood my mouth. Making an example of him I bashed the length of my body against his, piercing deep into his flesh. His soft fur gave way like butter to a knife as his snarls of pain soon turned to a gurgle as his lungs filled with blood.

"Cur-curse-yo-you." Were his final parting words as his bright yellow eyes clouded over with death. Dragging his body some ways away from my den I sent out a sharp high pitched contact call bark to my mate. Hearing a return call several miles away I knew my mate was safe and alive. Turning back I made my way into the den and ensured my two pups were well. Curling my body around them I offered them my only weakness; my stomach. Unlike the rest of my body my stomach had the darkest and softest fur on it which would make for an easy kill if I were not so defensive of this area. Mewing, my pups crawled blindly over seeking my warmth as well as my nourishment.
