I watched her from the corner

As she began to play her song

Her spindly fingers danced across

The notes she'd known so long

#

I saw the Silver Spider glow

As she set to work to make it so

The tune would have a home to dwell

A Spider's web to sleep.

#

With such dedicated passion

The small Spider began to fashion

What could only be described

As a catastrophic web

#

And rightly I refused to watch

To listen to her gentle touch

But the Spider did not need my praise

As she slowly spun her web

#

"You cannot finish all of it

There's no way you'll accomplish it

Nodame just give up on it"

But the Spider spun her web

#

I soon gave up on getting through

For now my place would have to do

I would have to wait 'til she was due

Or was done building her web

#

She really did not notice me

She had not listened to my plea

So I listened and began to see

As bit by bit she spun her web

#

It wasn't so alarming

More a subtle sort of charming

Not at all physically harming

The beginning of her web

#

The way she spun was quite a feat

With so much work left to complete

But she just smiled and kept at it

And spun her growing web

#

Too soon I felt mesmerised

My opinion was almost capsized

My resistance began to dwindle

Against the Silver Spider's thread

#

For so long she had amused me

Tried so hard just to provoke me

But I had not moved an inch

Until I saw her spin her web

#

And now as I watched the Spider

How I longed to sit beside her

But there is danger in desire

Danger of catching in a web

#

Her lively eyes and open smile

Had known that in a little while

I'd be begging on my knees

Begging for a chance to play

#

At first I was terrified

I tried to run, I tried to hide

But she continued to rehearse her plan

To catch me in her web

#

And yes, I felt drawn to her web

The sound a soft and soothing ebb

And I began to fashion my intent

To join her in the web

#

As the music grew and grew

She noticed me and took her cue

She struck, and I could not refuse

The chance to join her web

#

I felt myself give in to her

She will come get me for sure

But I cannot get through to her

Too caught up in her web

#

Nodame you're a mystery

Why will you not come to me?

You taunt and tease and tantalise

But leave me in your web.

#

I cried aloud, "The game is won

Victory is yours, why do you shun?

You need not finish, please just come

Away from your web to me!"

#

But still she did not utter

Nor her concentration flutter

She had better things to do

Now that she had me in her web

#

The music stopped and I awoke,

Nodame peered at me.

"Are you ok? That's quite a fall"

"You lie, I felt nothing at all!"

#

I see her eyes, I see her smile

It just took me a little while

And awake I know that I belong

Forever in her web

#

"My little spider dance with me

Over the land, across the sea"

But she just smiled and said to me

"You've caught me in your web."
