How Cream and Cheese Possibly Met
Cream was asleep on her bed one Saturday morning, when her mother shook her awake. She opened her sleepy eyes,
"What's up, mom?"
"I want you to have breakfast, take a bath and get dressed; I have a surprise for you."
"Is it a trip to the Doctor's office?" asked Cream, afraid,
"No, sweetie, it's a good surprise." Cream went down to the kitchen. It was her favorite thing to dine on for breakfast: pancakes and a glass of Carrot Juice. The pancakes were dripping with maple syrup. Well, naturally, the pancakes had left Cream sticky and messy. She went to the bathroom, took off her pajamas, and bathed a bubble bath. She got into her original outfit, and got into her car seat in her mother's car. As Vanilla was driving, she started talking,
"Remember that deal we made, about how if you behaved, got along with other kids, and kept your room clean, you'd get something good out of it?"
"Yes mom," said Cream,
"Well I haven't gotten any calls from your teacher about fighting with the other students, I haven't had to send you to your room in a while, which has been spotless for a week running. You've held up your end of the deal, so today, I'm holding up mine." Just as she finished talking, she parked in front of the Chao farm. Cream's eyes lit up. They walked in. Cream browsed through the Chao until she found one in its pen. It was only a baby; Cream read on a sticker that it had hatched only a few minutes ago. Her heart went out to this newborn baby.
"This is the one I want," said the little rabbit. The infant was napping. The lady at the front desk told Cream that she would have to wait until the baby woke up. Waking up Chao during their naps doesn't mark you as their favorites, the babies especially. When he did wake up, the lady, a dog, took it out of its pen. Cream took it oh so gently, and cuddled it. The Baby cuddled back.
"He seems to have taken a liking to you," said the dog, "do you have a name in mind?" Cream scanned her mind.
"Cheese," said Cream, excitedly, "I'll name him Cheese,"
"Honey, that's not a good name," said the dog. But then Vanilla gave her a look that would even make Shadow cringe. The Dog saved her self,
"In Florida, but here it's a good name; Cheese it is." Vanilla paid for him, a reasonable price of $30. As they drove back to their home, Vanilla started talking again.
"I bought you that Chao," she said, "but it's not a right; I can just as easily take it away. You need to keep on behaving, getting along with others, and keeping that room of yours as tidy as it is now." That's a promise that Cream would always keep.
