A/N: If the episode (and season) this fic is based on is any indication, this has been on my writing flash drive for a few years. Oh well. Better late than never. Based on the Kick It Up episode.

She was the insecure one. The one who couldn't get the grades, almost failed the audition for Shake it Up Chicago and had dyslexia.

All these things should have sent her running, should have made her curl up in a tight ball, crying like a two year old. And there were times when she did want to curl up in a ball, just to hide from her insecurities.

But then she would come and without realizing it, she'd pull her back from the brink. With a smile and a tilt of her head, Rocky Blue would break through the shell that encased her. She'd wrap an arm around her, crack a joke, and reassure her that yes, she was her best friend and yes, she could tell her anything.

For this, Cece was grateful.

But it was to late. She'd pushed Rocky away, made her think she didn't want her.

But she did want her. No, scratch that; she needed her. She needed Rocky more than anyone else in the world.

Which is why, against her better judgment, she joined Rocky's karate class.

It had seemed like a good idea at first. In theory. That was until Olga stepped onto the mat and knocked her down with her huge head.

Thankfully, the instructor had taken pity on her and had her go up against Henry, her previous tutor. Which was a little more to her liking. At least he was small enough for her to place a hand on his head and prevent him from doing anything.

At the moment, he was currently struggling against her hand. But that didn't matter. She smiled.

"You know, this is kind of fun."

"Then why did you wait so long?" Rocky asked.

"Because…" Cece sighed. "Okay, so I really could care less about karate. But the one thing I do care about…is you." She looked at her best friend. "I miss you Rocky. And, yeah, maybe I have been acting like a jerk this past week and maybe we are to close, but I've been listening to Gunther and Tinka and Deuce and, well, we hang out together because we're best friends. I don't wanna lose you Rocky."

"Cece, you're not losing me." Rocky took a step toward her. "We're just…branching out."

"But that's just it. I don't want to branch out." She placed a hand on the girl's arm. "I want to be with my best friend."

Rocky grinned. "Oh thank goodness. I've been feeling the same way."

"Really?"

"Really."

"Ohhh…" Cece pushed Henry off to the side, not paying attention to where he landed. "Friend hug?"

"Friend hug." The pair wrapped their arms around each other in a tight hug.

"From now on, I'm going to start listening to myself."

"And what are you saying now?"

Cece looked around. "I can't stand karate. Let's get out of here."

The two friends wrapped their arms around each other's shoulders and skipped out of the room without so much as a backwards glance.
