fireworks.

A/N: Nothing belongs to me, 'kay? Happy Fourth!

"C'mon, Weegee," Mario said as he put on his hat, "you haven't been to a fireworks show since we were kids. You could miss out on a major thing here."
Luigi sighed.
"Please?" Mario asked. "Just this once and then I'll never ask for anything again…"
Obviously this wasn't true, but Mario looked sincere. So Luigi gave in.
Big mistake.
First of all, the Toads took forever setting up. When they finally did start setting them off, they were
loud. Frighteningly loud, so much that Luigi thought his heart was going to jump out of his chest and run away screaming. He was beginning to regret this.
Then they got so close that Luigi was afraid the sparks would fall on him and he'd start burning and screaming and stuff, and that would suck.
They went on for awhile. Luigi shifted his weight to his other foot while trying to ignore the people behind them, who (he was sure) were so high they couldn't talk right, as well as trying not to look scared.
Then a whole bunch of them went off. Luigi figured this was the end. People started clapping, Mario included. And
then they started up again, louder than ever. Luigi was terrified at the new addition of white flashes of light, which went off quietly then let out a noise that sounded like a bomb.
Finally, the real finale happened. Regular fireworks went off, as well as smaller ones closer to the ground. They made it sound like a war, with regular
BOOM!s going off, laced with the sound of rat-a-tat-tat, like a drum. A red and green one went off for the heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom. A pink one, for the princess, and an orange for the princess of Sarasaland. When they were finally over, Mario turned to Luigi and asked, "So what did you think?"
Luigi blinked. "They were okay."
"So you'll come next year?"
"Who said that?!"
