A/N: Hey guys. Thought I'd take a break and try a crack at Sadstuck.
Disclaimer: I don't own Homestuck or the characters. All that belongs to Hussie. Mind you, I do own this story.
Warnings: this is sadstuck with major character deaths. One, two.
You saw him, everyone else did as well. You knew his purpose, though. That divided you from the rest. The time had come, in the most logical sense.
Three, four.
You had to shield him, the boy with black hair that stood beside you. He just reached up to your chest in height. He was so precious to you, the only thing precious to you. You grabbed him, turning him away from the one that would force you two apart.
Five, six.
"John, close your eyes," you instruct calmly, and he does. You hold his shoulders, protecting him, keeping him away. The only thing you see is him, and the only thing he can see is you.
"Count to ten with me," you request, and he takes in a shaky breath as the first tear falls. He knows whats going on, you know he knows.
Seven, eight.
You slow time down around the two of you. You don't want to lose him so soon, not yet. You're not ready. You know that monster knows. He could easily make sure it'd be as fast for the others, but this is suffering in its own sense, so he allows it. And you pull John in closer. He's still counting with you, and time ticks by.
Its bright behind you, and you see others fleeing in a slow-motion run. You've made it so its quiet, you've made a bubble. The bubble you need to protect the boy in your arms, the one you've always loved. The one you always will love. The one you're going to be taken from, and the one that will be taken from you.
Nine, ten.
"John I love you," you say in the middle of your slow countdown, and he looks up at you with a sob, nodding in agreement. Tears are streaming from his gorgeous eyes, the eyes you never want to see pain in.
You lean in and kiss him. He kisses you back.
Burning pain is felt in your back as you're ripped away.
The last thing you felt- besides the pain- was love.
Love and that boy, wrapped so tightly in your arms.
