The two of them really shouldn't be here.
They kind of awkwardly huddle together in the corner of the restaurant, decked out in suspicious looking sunglasses and trench coats.
"Ugh," Yuyuka rolls her eyes. "This outfit is so not cute. How did you even get me to wear this?"
"Shh," he replies. "They're talking." On his face, he wears a heavily concentrated expression she rarely sees him have. She rolls her eyes again, and for a second the restaurant lights dance across her bright eyes like a shooting star. "Shh," Mamura repeats.
Yuyuka decides that Mamura is vaguely boring, but kind of cute when he's staring and well, he's not looking this way, so she takes it as a free invitation to stare all she wants at him. "Geez, they're having a date. We should stop bothering them," she mutters. Suzume's finally happy with her guy, and she's not about to let her ex mess everything all up.
She's not jealous, or anything.
"He's holding her hand," Mamura whispers, absolutely mortified. "He's touching her."
"Calm down, pretty boy. Not everyone's like you," Yuyuka says back, shrugging. "You should just be happy that she's happy."
"But he's her teacher and-"
"-calm down, hold up, he teaches middle school now, don't get in her way," Yuyuka retorts. "Let's just ditch them."
Mamura actually considers it (wait, he's actually thinking about it...?) for a few seconds, before saying guardedly, "Where?" The sleeve of her trench coat brushes his and a familiar blush rises on his face.
Yuyuka shrugs. She can't place this heart-bursting feeling of something, nor can she forget the way his eyes flash like a shooting star in the restaurant lighting. "Not here."
Mamura remains silent, stoic like he always is. After two years of friendship, she'd think he would open up, but to her, he's the same mysterious Mamura. Some moments he's intense, careful, beautiful, some moments he's quiet, with a sadness in his eyes of stars.
"I'm cold," she mentions. Funny, because they're on the opposite side of the room from the air conditioner. He doesn't move. "I'm cold," she repeats. Mamura refuses to look at her. She huffs and turns away, because she remembers when Potato Girl got that scarf from him and dammit but she wants one too.
Then she feels something warm wrap around her neck and she smiles into it. "This is kind of like a date, you know," she casually mentions.
"Shut up." He scowls and gives her his back. Yuyuka smiles prettily, and wraps his scarf tighter around her. It's warm.
He can act cool, but he can't hide the red tips of his ears.
