So I saw this writing prompt and decided to write a fanfiction based off of it. The prompt was- Sweet memories and chocolate sundaes. So then this happened. Disclaimer:

1. I don't own The Count of Monte Cristo

2. I stole this prompt from someone, but I don't remember who. Sorry.

Anyway, enjoy!

Sweet memories and chocolate sundaes.

The afternoon sky was a shade of blue that was bright and cheerful while at the same time deep and mysterious. Albert de Morcerf tried to suck up as much of the sun's warmth as possible. The weather was perfect—not too hot and not too cold, no wind save for the light, pleasant breeze, and no rain to turn the soil under the soft grass he was lying on to mud.

He sighed. "It's days like today that make you all the more tolerant of the bad ones, don't you agree, Franz?" The two were stretched out on their backs in the Morcerfs' backyard.

Franz d'Epinay sat up on his elbows and scooped some of his chocolate ice cream onto his spoon. He nodded. "I suppose."

Albert turned his head and smiled. "It smells nice, too. I mean, usually it smells like mud or rain or something out here, but you can actually smell the flowers today."

"It's because of the breeze, Albert."

The boy sat up. "No, I'm serious. You can really smell the jasmine. Bad weather has a particular scent—you can't describe what it is, but it's there and it ruins everything."

Franz rolled his eyes. "Sure," he muttered, taking another bite of his chocolate sundae. Albert laid back down, laughing.

"What's so funny?" Franz asked.

Albert looked up at him, not attempting to hide his smirk. "You have chocolate on your face."

Franz wiped at his lips with a handkerchief. The other boy propped himself up on his arms, watching in amusement.

"You missed it."

Franz went back to dabbing at his face. He glanced at his friend, who shook his head in response. "You aren't as good at cleaning up as you seem, you know that?"

He threw the handkerchief at Albert. "Fine, you do it, then."

Albert leaned over, inspecting the chocolate sauce on Franz's lips. Franz stared into a pair of blue eyes, his heart beating faster as the other boy moved in closer. Suddenly, he felt lips on his own, and Albert's tongue darting out to lick away the chocolate. He twisted his fingers into Franz's hair, tasting the sundaes and fresh spring air in their kiss. The warm blanket of grass cushioned Franz's fall as Albert clumsily pushed him backward, landing with his hands on either side of his friend.

"Albert, your parents are inside," Franz breathed, quickly shoving the other boy off him.

Albert grinned up at the perfect sky. "So?"

Franz didn't answer. He felt lightheaded. Albert reached over and plucked the cherry off the top of Franz's sundae, sticking it in his mouth. He grabbed the spoon and took a bite, already have finished his.

Franz, finally breathing normally again, tried to suppress a laugh.

"What?"

"You know, Albert, I hate to say this but you've got chocolate all over your face."

Albert smirked mischievously. "What a shame. But we both know that I'm terrible at staying clean."

"Well," said Franz, leaning over Albert, who was still on his back. "We'll just have to do something about that."

Yay! Please review, and I hope you liked it! :)
