Warning there is mention of abuse, physical and mental throughout the story, so if that bothers you maybe don't read it, or be careful.

Whenever I think of a Xanxus romance I know it can't be something lighthearted, at least not in the beginning. There are so many problems with that boy and the dark side of the mafia he lives in, I wanted to write something that I felt satisfied those requirements. Hopefully you guys will enjoy!

Preface

"VOI!"

Luna jumped at the loud yell, she moved to peek out the servants entrance, along with a few other girls, into the dining room.

"Lord Squalo, is there a problem?" Their boss, Lorenzo asked.

"Who the fuck made this food?" Luna flinched, her fingers tugging at a her apron nervously.

"Luna was the food not prepared like normal?" Sophia, her assistant looked at her nervously.

"We tasted it, it was fine." She managed to say, her voice shaking.

"Bring Luna." She heard her boss snap. It took everything in her to not run, but the reminder of why she shouldn't run was already marked on her skin. So she bit back tears and stepped out of the servants entrance.

Mario gave her a pitying look as he gently took a hold of her arm, mindful of the bruises they all knew were hidden underneath them, and pulled her to the center of the room.

"This is her." She kept her eyes on her toes, but the hateful glare of her boss pushed at her like a knife in a wound. "What have you done to offend our guests you piece of shit." Lorenzo yelled, grabbing his wine glass and prepared to throw it at her.

"Oi woman, look at me!"

Blue eyes met grey and she flinched at the ferocity in them, but didn't look away, that is until a half filled wine glass slammed against the side of her head, shattering an staining her curly blond hair purple.

"VOI!" Squalo yelled, turning his glare to Lorenzo. "I was speaking."

"Bitch deserved it." Lorenzo grumbled, seemingly unfazed by the white haired man's raised voice.

She didn't dare try to push the glass shards out of hair or wipe the wine dripping down her face away. Gather her courage, she asked. "W-Was the food not to your liking sir."

"Did you make this?" Grey eyes narrowed on her.

"Y-Yes."

"Lorenzo!"

"Do you wish to have her punished?" The sadistic pleasure she heard in her boss's voice made her want to hide, but Mario's presence at her side held her in place.

"As your payment to the Varia I'll be taking that woman."

Blue eyes widened at his statement and it seems she wasn't the only one shocked.

"W-What!" Lorenzo got to his feet. "Why would you want a low rate piece of shit like her?"

"She is a gift for the boss." Squalo grinned, and Luna could see why he was named that. His smile was terrifying, just like a shark's. The answer seemed to make her boss freeze in place, but before he could respond, Squalo turned his narrowed eyes back at her. "You have an hour to pack your measly belongings and meet me outside."

Uncertain of her fate she turned her eyes to Mario, who looked just as confused as her, and then at her boss.

"If that is what you wish." Lorenzo bit out, hateful green eyes turning to her, "You heard him. You're are Xanxus's bitch now."

When she made no sign on moving, Mario grabbed her wrist and gently tugged her back towards the servants entrance. Once inside the safety of the servants tunnels she and a few others began to remove the shards of glass from her hair.

"This is a blessing in disguise Luna." Sophia bitterly smiled, "You will finally be free of Lord Lorenzo."

"B-But to what end." She wondered, leaving the service of one madman for another.

"Where ever he will take you will be better than here." Alena wiped the wine on her skin with a wrinkled hand. "The old bastard almost killed you last time, his hatred for you is not to be underestimated cara."

Nodding numbly she shook off their hands. "I must prepare to leave."

"I'll help." Sophia followed her to the servants quarters where they quietly packed the small bag of things she actually owned. She had two pairs of work clothes, including the one she had on now, and a pair of pajamas. Lorenzo was very old school and like to see the women of his household wear long skirts. She always wore a pair of tights that Alena's granddaughter had given her. She gave her friend a tearful hug, and when she stepped into the hallway she found the rest of the kitchen staff waiting for her tearfully giving her their goodbyes.

Alena looked her in her blue eyes, "Be careful cara, never come back."

Swallowing painfully Luna nodded.

She forced herself to eat a few pieces of bread before leaving, she wasn't sure when she would be allowed to eat again, so even if her stomach twisted itself with nerves she would try to prepare. As she was about to leave she placed a few fruits in her bag, they would be there just in case.

The white haired man, Squalo scowled at her when she emerged from the servants door. "That's all you have?" He barked.

"Y-Yes." She clutched at her small bag, hoping he wouldn't take it from her.

He grumbled something before turning away and walking towards a black car. She didn't follow until he looked over his shoulder and growled, "Come on!"

She hurried after him, entering the car when he opened the door for her. She slid to the other side of the car, pressing herself as close to the side as possible. He entered in after her and snapped an order at the driver. In seconds the car was on its way.

The silence was stifling and she glanced out the window to see her home for the past twenty six years fade away.

"Oi, woman."

Jumping slightly she hesitantly locked eyes with Squalo, who had his arms crossed over his chest.

"Yes sir."

"What is your name?"

"Lu-Luna de Ullio." She replied.

"How long have you worked for that bastard?"

"Since I've been alive."

He grunted, "You work for the Varia now so an past loyalties are null." She nodded. "You'll be working in the kitchens."

That was...as relief.

"Specifically making food for the boss."

Lorenzo had called him Xanxus.

"...out of this dump...VOI!" Flinching she looked up at the noisy swordsman who was glaring at her. "Look at me when I'm talking to you!"

Oh god she had messed up, she was told never to look at her betters when they addressed her.

She slid off the seat to the floor of the car, the large space giving her enough room to bow. "I ap-apologize."

He let out a loud sigh, "Get up woman."

She slowly moved back to her seat and made herself small for the rest of the car ride.
