The Kingdom Of Childhood

In the land of the forgotten tucked far away

In a box of memories for a rainy day

Lived the Kingdom of Childhood, once strong and proud

Now abandoned and silent all year round

Not a single person in the kingdom is awake

For the people were put to sleep for their own sake

The streets are bare and the shops are too quiet

For even the mice have been put to silence

There are weeds overgrowing the stone village wall

And dust is covering the peddlers stall.

And if you follow the now unused path till the end

You'll see foxes and rabbits asleep in their dens.

And at the end of that path just a slight bit further

You will see a golden gate covered in rust and dust

And if you push open that rusty dusty old gold gate

You will see the Castle of Childhood.

Made out of gold and looking very old

It sits alone and waits

Waiting for the child who once ruled over the kingdom to come home

And take his seat once more upon his golden throne

But the Castle as lonely as it may be

Is not quite as alone as it may seem

You see standing still and strong outside the great door

Is a Great lonely knight

The only one awake if the need comes to fight

And some terrible enemy who may try to invade

Will never be able to get past his great golden blade.

With a sword made of honor and a shield made of pride

He stands guard and waits abiding his time

For the day he can put down his sword and shield

And retire his armor and break the doors seal

But that day will never come

For children always grow up

And put away all childish things

and enter adult hood and all that it brings

and so

In the land of the forgotten tucked far away

In a box of memories for a rainy day

Lived the Kingdom of Childhood
