paranormal survivor.
3 months after Hermione moved into her two-story house, she started to notice some odd things, small at first, like her belongings being moved and missed place, her muggle stereo would turn on all by itself in the middle of the night, to hearing footsteps walking up and down the stairs.
it increased with time, she would wake up in the middle of the night to banging on her bedroom door, things would start flying off shelves and counters, lights flickering on and off, to hearing a deep raspy voice call her name, and frequently seeing a black massed figure out of the corner of her eye, just watching her.
it was beginning to scare her, and she didn't know what to do, she's seen ghosts before, but nothing like this, this wasn't like some ghost from Hogwarts, it felt darker.
One day, when Hermione was in the kitchen making herself some lunch, she suddenly had the feeling she was being watched, she stood unmoving, as she distinctly heard footsteps walking up behind her, she froze when she felt it's breath on the back of her neck.
she screamed when it growled in her ear, and she hastily turned off the stove, grabbed her purse, and ran out of the house, and apparated away.
she found herself standing outside a bookshop in west london, she wanted to find out what was going on in her house.
she entered the shop, and frantically started looking through rows and rows of books on spirts and the supernatural phenomena, she was unaware of the curious black eyes watching her from the corner of the room.
it was only when Hermione gasped, covering her mouth with one hand, as a single tear slid down her cheek, is when Severus Snape walked up behind her, and spoke softly.
"are you alright..ms.Granger?", he said, as she twirled around in surprise, slamming the book shut, and wiping her face.
"professor...you startled me", Hermione replied, shakily.
"my..apologies", Severus said, bowing his head slightly.
Hermione sighed, absentmindedly bringing the book up to her chest.
"the supernatural?", Severus asked, questionally raising his eyebrow at her, as he eyed the book in her hands intently.
Hermione swiftly looked down at the book, then closed her eyes, for a few moments, before looking back up at him, and hesitating, before handing the book to him.
"I...I think..there's something Evil in my house", Hermione uttered, as Severus flipped through the pages, eyeing her ruminately.
"something...growled in my ear...today...i felt it's breath on me...something's always watching me", Hermione muttered, thoughtfully, staring down to the floor.
Severus narrowed his eyes, noting the fear in her eyes.
"how long...has this been happening?", Severus asked, vexed.
"ever since I moved in...it's just been escalating...no one believes me...not even my parents", Hermione answered, aggervatedly, shaking her head.
"just because i'm a witch...they think i can make it go away", Hermione huffed, in a low voice.
Severus shifted his feet, as someone walked by.
"I don't expect you..to believe me...i'm just...scared...and i don't know what to do", Hermione spoke again, apprehensively, shaking her head.
"I believe you", Severus said, reassuringly, in a firm voice.
Hermione looked up at him gratefully, "thank you", she said, with a small smile.
Severus's face softened, as he nodded.
"why are you being so nice to me?", Hermione asked, curiously.
"because...not once...have I ever seen you cry...not even after everything..i've said to you", Severus replied, guilt-ridden, furrowing his eyebrows, as she blinked up at him.
"I...never had the chance..to tell you..what a strong..young women you are", Severus complemented, handing the book back to her, as Hermione blushed, shifting akwardly.
"I..know you know...everything...that I've done..and why...and i..still don't expect you to..forgive me...but I want to apologize..for any hurt i may have cause you inside", Severus said, repentantly.
Hermione gaped at him, stunned, for a moment, before she looked back down at the floor thoughtfully, before acknowledging him.
"I Forgive you..professor", Hermione breathed, smiling in admiration, through the tears stinging her eyes.
"well then...i think formalities are..certainly..underrated by now..and first names are in order...don't you think..ms.Granger?", Severus asked, smiling warmly at her,
Hermione chortled, wiping her eyes, as she nodded her head, "yes", she said, softly.
"good", Severus smiled, in satisfaction, before realization hit him.
"I'm sorry...Hermione...you were telling me something...and I didn't mean to intterupt you...but I've wanted to say that..for a long time now", Severus said, apologetically.
"it's okay...Severus...if anything you made me forget about it..for a few minutes", Hermione said, thankfully, feeling a slight tingle up her spine, when she said his name.
"are you alright to go home", Severus asked, cautiously.
Hermione took a shaky breath, "I..don't know...if it can show itself to me...and growl in my ear...and bang on my bedroom door in the middle of the night...what else can it do", she said, helplessly, fear finding its way back into her eyes again.
"Hermione", Severus said, gently grasping her wrist.
"you..can not..let fear control you anymore...if that thing knows what you are...your fear..is giving it a stronger hold over you", Severus warned, slightly squeezing her wrist, as Hermione dropped her head in despair.
"tell you what...if things get worse...you are welcome...to come stay with me", Severus offered.
Hermione looked up at him in surprise, "oh Severus...no..you don't have to do that", Hermione exclaimed, shaking her head, vigorously.
"you've been through enough", Severus insisted, with concern written on his face.
Hermione could barely take in this new Severus, she never knew he had this whole other side to him...till only recently.
"I can't ask that of you", Hermione stated, stubbornly.
"you didn't...I did", Severus responded, just as stubbornly, as they stared at each other intently, until Hermione gave in, under his peircing gaze, and looked away.
"good", Severus said, as he finally let go of her wrist, and started to walk away when Hermione spoke.
"thank you...for everything", Hermione smiled knowingly at him, as he reached the door.
he turned, and flashed her a small smile, before disappearing through the door.
after Severus left, Hermione put the book back without giving it another glance, and walked out of the store.
she walked home, as slow as possible, dreading what awaited for her when she got there.
(well that was unexpected, but i feel like if Severus had survived the war, he would have apologized, maybe differently then that lol but in this fanfiction story he's been crushing on her since the war)
