Yellow Tape Keeps Out the Unsuspecting

By Any Unborn Child

It was no secret that Izaya Orihara found humans fascinating.

He loved them.

He didn't know what he would do without them.

The human race confounded him, surprised him, amused him, delighted him, angered him, and spurned many other emotions inside of his psyche.

They made him experience a multitude of things that he otherwise would have not had the fortune to live through.

It was also no secret that Izaya Orihara had the upper hand over almost all of them.

Because of his informant status, there were many that trusted him, came to him in their time of need.

With his chessboard, combining the pawns and players of Chess, Shogi, and Reversi, he amplifies and anticipates the moves that each person will make.

Most of the time he is right.

There are a couple of people, however, whose moves make him confused beyond all comprehension.

The first would have to be Shizuo Heiwajima – but he did not want to talk, or even think, about him right now.

The second is a student by the name of Mikado Ryugamine. This boy intrigued Izaya to no end.

His shy, nervous demeanor hid the fact that he was the original creator of the 'gang' called "The Dollars", and all through the internet, no doubt.

His sparse eye contact and cheerful smile hid dreams of an extraordinary, not boring existence.

His true love for his friends was endearing, even with the fact that he did not know the secrets that they were keeping from him, as well as each other.

As well as these things, what made the boy so fascinating to the older male was that Mikado's innermost belief that the human race is genuinely good.

Genuinely good…the phrase almost made Izaya laugh out loud.

Mikado's belief in this was enticing…he may not know of what humanity was truly capable of.

Of course, he was not truly naïve, but he had not been as…experienced…as Izaya, or anyone else in the world was…

For now, Izaya could only anticipate what the boy's next move would be…and just what he was truly capable of.

If he did nothing…perhaps Izaya would…show him what someone can do to another human being.

The yellow tape could only keep out so many….
