Priestess of Ice and Water
Ami sighed and closed the book she was reading. She had re-read the same paragraph five times and it still didn't register. She was just to distracted at the moment to read. Her fellow classmates had started again with the 'Straight A-Ami comments' a few weeks ago and they really were starting to get to her, although they couldn't tell by looking at her.
Placing the book down on her nightstand she went to her chest of drawers and pulled out a pale blue bathing suit, quickly changing into it. She slipped on a pair of flip flops and grabbed a towel from her bathroom and the left for her apartment complex's pool.
Her mind became more complex but at ease as she slipped into the familiar territory of the water. As she picked up speed she fell into a comfortable routine.
Facts were concrete. They had been proven over and over again. That was why they where so safe. They didn't change, never had and never would. That was why she loved learning. It was safe, almost as safe as the water.
Every since she was a little girl she had felt a connection to the water in the summer and the ice in the winter. As she got older she learned if she concentrated hard enough she could move the water slightly, it became a game to her then, but as she came into her right as Sailor Mercury, Mizunio Ami, Princess of Mercury she realized it was even more. When Rei joined the team she explained to Rei what had happened to her since she was a little girl and then how her control over water got better when she came into her right. Rei calmly explained that she believed that all of the scouts, being based upon an element, where in their right Priestesses of that element.
In Ami's case she was the Priestess over water in any of its various forms, unlike her close counterpart Michiru, who was Priestess of the Seas, not water specifically. As
Ami finished her finally lap and pulled her self out of the pool, she allowed herself a small smile.
No matter what people thought of her, she knew different. She was the Priestess of Ice and Water.
