The options present both had some good and bad qualities.

The wedding could be held in secret. Given their enemies and the code they were going to break with this bond, this would seem to be the most logical. Just a few friends and some immediate family would attend. It would still feel lonely, with the added problem of keeping a secret.

Or the wedding could be a real wedding, with all the trim and polish that would take months of planning and lots more credits. And that didn't count what they would need for security to make sure no snipers or bombers would try to take advantage of the wedding to strike.

"I just feel more comfortable doing the closed door wedding." Miranda stated. "It's cheaper as well."

"But isn't a marriage meant to be something to be remembered, rather than regretted?" Samara asked, leaning in her seat. "While indeed the secret wedding is the smarter route…"

"Then let's do it." Miranda stated, as she wrote the details onto a notepad. "Let's not get others harmed by the choices we make."

"Then maybe it's safer to not have the marriage then." Samara stated. "If the wedding will cause more problems than necessary, then perhaps we should save it for when our enemies are no more and then we can celebrate our matrimony with our friends and whatever family we have."

"…but we...might not be alive by the time that happens…" Miranda said as she looked away. "The Reapers might get to us, and there's Cerberus…" She bit her lip. "I don't think they won't like a former member, let alone second in the operation, being romantically involved with…a alien they ha…" Before she could say anything more or even finish her word, Samara placed a finger to Miranda's lips.

"Stop." Samara asked. "Stop."

Miranda shook her head, agreeing. Samara removed her finger before she spoke. "Yes. Your former organization will be more than happy to execute us than let us be married. They would rather destroy the entire planet we get wed on than let anyone associated with the organization fornicate with aliens. And yet, we have proved time and time again that we can handle them."

"Yeah…"

"While my breaking of the code could get other justicars, some of who are far more powerful than me, I believe our beloved Commander can help us with that. We fought far stronger and came out looking better."

"Samara…"

"We have come far together, Ms. Lawson. I've come to love you not as a friend, but as a lover. Our allies…no friends, understand our love and are willing to help us. There's no fear for us to wed in public. It may be dangerous…it may be expensive…but it will be something to remember."

Miranda smiled.

The wedding was held with all their friends and family on the Citadel, the one true safe haven left in the galaxy. Outside of one dead body, everything got sealed with a kiss and a promise.
