Jily One-shot

"James! What are you doing here?" I asked amazed.
"I'm here," he said while making himself home on a chair, "to provide you much needed company." As he said that, he looked very pleased with himself.
"You're gatecrashing." I pointed out.
"Well, of course I am. Who would come to your rescue in this moment of extreme torture, Flower?" He said dramatically and smirked at the end.
"I agree. Such torture this wedding is turning into. Petunia would kill me if she knew another 'freak' was present on her 'perfectly normal wedding', and that too, my friend." I said sitting down on a chair beside him.
"Just friend?" James said teasingly.
"Boyfriend." I said and blushed. He planted a soft kiss on my forehead and said, "C'mon," he stood up and held out his hand for me, "Let's dance."
"Uh-uh. Ask properly." I said.
"May I have this dance malady?" He said in his charming gentleman tone.
I curtsied and said, "Sure, Potter." I smirked.
Surprisingly, he was an excellent dancer. I knew he had had training in this, all Marauders had, but he was exceptional. All the girls looked at me with envious or more likely, jealous gazes, but I didn't care. Right now, right here, it was just the two of us.

I marvelled at the sight of him. In his off-white suit, white shirt and green tie. He looked like every hero I'd read in muggle books. I was no match for him in my strapless green dress. I usually don't care about my looks, but around him, I'm my most insecure version where looks are concerned. He's was so beautiful it hurt to see him.
"All right, Evans?" He asked with a smile.

I smiled and said, "Never been better."

"Want to dance in the centre?" He asked.

"We'll be seen. Tuney and mum won't approve of... this."

"Since when did Lily Evans start caring about other's approval?"

"She doesn't, but, circumstances are different today."

"Oh shut up." He steered me to the centre as he said this. The dance had quickened and I was finding it difficult to keep up with him, just as, he lifted me from my waist and put me back on the ground after a twirl. I blushed. I could feel all eyes on us, and the dance floor clearing for our use, in a few moves, he lifted me again, this time he held me, his face near my chest and his head thrown back to see me, we laughed as he twirled and I bent my head and planted a kiss on his lips, I meant to pull away, but he didn't. He kissed me with passion and I couldn't help but return the gesture with equal fire.

Just as we both let go, he whispered, "I love you, Lily." His eyes danced across my face, and he looked at me as if I was the only wonder in the world.
"I love you too, James." I whispered back.
